Party Pounders

  • 1 loaf of cocktail rye bread
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of pitted black olives chopped
  • 1/2 cup of real bacon bits(I like to fry my own bacon and crumble it)

    Mix all the ingredients together and put about 1 tablespoon of the mixture on each slice of rye bread. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes.(This recipe was given to me from my sister) Great for parties!

    Sugared Nuts

  • 1 tablespoon of egg whites
  • 2 cups of walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon

    Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.Place the nuts in a small bowl.Pour egg whites over the nuts and stir until the nuts are coated. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together,sprinkle over the nuts;stir this until the nuts are completely coated. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes.

    Broccoli Salad

  • 1 bunch of broccoli peel and chop
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds (may use any kind of nuts)
  • 12 strips of bacon fried crispy and crumbled up
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of sugar

    Mix all together and put in fridge. for an hour or so.

    Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes

  • 1 pound of fresh green beans
  • 6 new potaotes, cut into quarters
  • 1-2 large slices of smoked ham
  • salt to your taste
  • pepper to your taste
  • 1 large onion, chopped

    Place all of the ingredients listed into the crock pot and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.

    Easy Bean Soup

  • 7 cups of water
  • 1 pound of dried beans ( I use Navy or Northern)
  • 4-6 smoked ham hocks
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • a dash of pepper

    Heat the water and the beans in a large pot; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and cover; let stand for 1 hour. After 1 hour stir in the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and cover and cook on low for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until the beans are tender. This dish is really good with cornbread!
