Gifts in a Jar
The follow are a great gift-giving ideas at Christmas or anytime of year. They are so sweet looking~they look straight out of a quaint, country kitchen somewhere. Most require 1-quart mason jars, but watch closely as some of the recipes will ask for pint size jars.
When making these recipes, keep this in mind: The first recipe is the one
you make and put into the jar. The second recipe should be printed out
in a nice font, maybe with a nice border around it, and attached to the
jar. A simple circle of cloth placed between the seal and the ring (of
a two-part canning lid) makes a charming effect and you could also add
a ribbon around the ring. I like to use pinking shears when cutting
my fabric just for effect. I've also noticed there are quite a few
patterns for making quilted tops or pin cushions for mason jar lids.
There are 3 different types of recipes listed here. One is the "Mixed Recipes"~where all the ingredients are just mixed together in a bowl and put into the jar; the second is the "Layered Recipes"~where you layer the ingredients for a "sand art" effect; and the last part is for "Baked in the Jar Recipes."
