“Kingfish” Hungry for Catfish
June 5. 1954

“Last time I came to Rock Island I did everything but rest, but this time I slipped in and am really resting and enjoying my stay with relatives and friends.”
After a week in Rock Island visiting with his brothers, Tim Moore, ‘The Kingfish” of the “Amos & Andy TV show says this time he hopes to get in a little fishing. “I’m sure hungry for a nice big Mississippi catfish, or even a buffalo,” he laughed.
“The Kingfish” and Mrs. Moore are staying at the home of his brother, Charley Moore, 910 8th Ave., Rock Island. He has three brothers, Jeff Moore of 801 1/2 9th Ave.; Arthur Moore 612 7th St.; and Raymond Moore, 727 10th St., all of Rock Island.
He arrived last Saturday noon after attending a television and radio convention in Chicago as a representative of CBS. He and his wife will leave June 13 for their home in Los Angeles, Calif., by train. Starting on Film Series
“The Kingfish” said he will start work on July 1 on a series of 26 films for release after September. The “Amos & Andy” TV show is now syndicated to independent stations through the country and “The Kingfish” said “more people are now seeing the films than ever before.”
The shows are also being shown in Alaska, England and Hawaii, he said, and next fall the schedule will include Japan.
He said it requires about eight or nine days to complete a film, including rehearsals, shooting and the cutting procedures.
“I’m feeling mighty good, and I’m enjoying my visit in Rock Island like I always do,” Moore said.
