Amos 'n' Andy Episode List


1) Andy Goes Into Business

Andy's new doughnut shop is prospering when Kingfish learns that Mr. Daniels, his mother-in-law's suitor, intends to set a wedding date if he can find a business that costs only $500. Without sucess, Kingfish attempts to persuade Andy to sell, but then hits upon the idea of inserting a nail in one of the doughnuts and later "accidentally" buying it, hoping that the fuss will hurt Andy's business. Unfortunatlely, Kingfish can't find the "spiked" doughnut soon enough, and Sapphire's future stepfather withdraws his marriage proposal.
2) Kingfish Buys a Chair

An auctioneer mistakes the Kingfish's sneeze for a bid and the lodge brothers become the proud owners of a beat-up old chair, then discover it is crammed with cash. Andy and kingfish divide the spoils and soon acquire fancy clothes and cars. The duped pair mistake the two ex-cons who hid the money for investment counselors and hand back the money. The crooks are arrested, and the boys have to return their ill-gotten gains.
3) New Neighbors

To get rid of his new neighbors, the Fosters, the Kingfish uses the nocturnal wailing's of a young baby left in his care for a few days. The Fosters, who have borrowed everything, including some of the Kingfish's clothes, are driven to distraction. When the baby is finally returned to its parents, Kingfish has Andy play a sound-effects record, which includes the howling of wolves and barnyard sounds. The landlord serves an eviction notice-….but not to the Fosters.
4) The Lodge Brothers Complain

The members of the Mystic Knights of the Sea hire a secretary for the Kingfish because they are dissatisfied with his management of their affairs. Sapphire's jealousy prompts her to take a job as a secretary to writer John Bentley, who is marrying his ex-secretary. When Kingfish reads that Bentley is romancing his secretary and later overhears him discussing wedding plans, he assumes he will marry Sapphire. He attempts to stop the wedding by carrying the bride away.
5) Viva La France

On a visit to the United Nations building with Amos, romantic Andy becomes enamored with a pert French girl, Colette Duval, who doesn't understand English. Not understanding French, Andy assumes from Colette's pantomime that she returns his feelings. Andy gets a primer in international etiquette from Kingfish, and asks Madame Duval for her daughter's hand in marriage. The mother misunderstands and accepts Andy's proposal for herself. Calhoun tries to extricate Andy from his predicament, only to read later that it is he who is now engaged to Madame Duval.
6) Income Tax

Amos aids Andy and the Kingfish with their income tax returns. En route to a mailbox to deposit the forms, Andy is distracted by a former sweetheart. They do not know the forms are lost until they receive a letter from the Internal Revenue Bureau, which puts them in a state of panic. Amos, again, comes to the rescue; and released with a warning, Andy and the Kingfish fill out new forms. This time the Kingfish ensures the delivery of the tax returns.
7) Vacation Time

The Kingfish doesn't have the money he is supposed to have banked for his family's vacation so he sells his car, only to learn that Sapphire has bought a trailer to hitch to the car for their trip. In order to buy back the car, he hits upon a scheme to promise to take Andy on a trailer trip around the United States. Taking consultant Calhoun into his confidence, the trip is actually made through Central Park. All goes well until Sapphire decides to take a walk through the park.
8) The Light Blue Car

While Kingfish is napping, his maroon and white car is borrowed for a hold-up. The Kingfish knows the police have a description of the car, but he hesitates to admit ownership, fearing his accumulation of debts might make him a prime suspect. Unsuccessful in his attempt to give the car away, he and Andy are caught by a policeman while they're trying to paint the car light blue. Hauled into court, lawyer Calhoun and the Kingfish's friends create more problems with their character references.
9) The Classified Ad

Andy receives an avalanche of mail in response to his wife-seeking ad, and he selects attractive Suzanne Wilson. The lodge brothers throw a bachelor dinner for Andy, which ends abruptly when he learns from Brother Thompson that Suzanne needs hundreds of dollars worth of dental work. He regroups but goes on with his wedding plans, which warrants another bachelor dinner. This time he is interrupted with the announcement of Suzanne's engagement to a childhood sweetheart. Selecting another sweetheart his third bachelor dinner interrupted with a call from his new fiancée informing him of her dental problems.
10) The Society Party

In order to buy Sapphire a new dress for the swanky Van Pelt party, Kingfish sells her fur coat to Andy. Then he learns that his wife plans on wearing the coat to the party, too. Andy has already given the coat to his girl friend, Rosemary; the two friends resolve to steal it back. The robbery fails, and matters are complicated when Kingfish learns Rosemary plans to wear the coat to the party.
