I joined on Tuesday 1/3/06. They sent my first 3 discs out on 1/4/06. I recieved them on 1/5/06, sent the first two back on 1/6/06 and they received those and sent out the next two on 1/7/06. So far it looks like a REALLY good turnaround time: but how do they make money if they're sending them out that quick?

The reason I decided to keep documentation on this is because I was doing research on the top rental companies and found a site that said netflix.com purposfully slowed down their shipments because they couldn't make money if they continued sending them out so quickly. So we'll see what blockbuster is like.

It may seem as if the movies slowed down, but the truth is, I figured out I'm not sure I can keep up with Blockbuster on this. Most of the slow down (except those noted) are on my end. I really have only a couple of days that I can see movies due to the fact I work 3rd shift and sleep most of the day which is why I had joined blockbuster.com in the first place. Have you ever tried getting to a rental place at 7am? They're just not open. I suppose I could rent movies before I go into work, but I really don't like leaving things like that in my car all night. Still at 13 movies a month and $19.00 a month, that averages out to $1.50. It might be expensive for the older movies, but it's a lot cheaper for the newer ones. Besides, they're shipped to my door. All I have to do is go to the mailbox.

(Bewitched and March of the Penguins seemed longer than normal due to the fact I'd been receiving them the day after they shipped - which meant I should have received them on the 13th. Blockbuster.com said I should receive it on the 14th, but due to Sunday (15th) and Monday (holiday), I received them on the 17th.)

(Andromeda disk 2 was sent the same time as The Cave and Emily Rose, yet it took 3 days longer to receive.)

Clockwork Orange was sent out before Stepfor Wives and The Ring. I've received both of those movies as of 2/11/06, but not Clockwork Orange.

Decision so far: So far really good!
