My impressions of him a an actor: I find him very visual, he has a fantastic ability to use his expressions and body movements to convey reality to any part. In particular, in the movie "Chameleon" while playing numerous and quite different characters he completely convinced the audience that he WAS all of the people he portrayed, from "Tony" the convict, to the computer repair man, to the black vagrant on the park bench, every twist and turn kept you guessing if it was "Willie" or not! He "talks" with his eyes and eyebrows and conveys feelings without speech. His talent seems endless. He makes you realize that acting is about far more than standing in front of a camera and speaking the words. He has taught me immense respect for actors and their ability.
He likes live theater and Independent films the best. The writing is most important, he likes well written rather than lots of action and violence. Independent films apparently allow him creative input that he doesn't find in other areas. He liked working for Murder One because it WAS well written (and should still be on!)and because he got a short (2year) contract. He didn't appear to like the long hours though he said in TV Guide that he was done with TV. (we'll see) He does not have much respect for celebrities who call themselves "actors" without any special training while true actors spend years trying to perfect their craft.
Innocent Blood, for all the talk about good writing (he IS adorable in it) had to be one of the most bizzare movies I ever saw. I even watched it twice, positive that I was missing something, I mean, Don Rickles as a vampire?? I am convinced that experience and money are important factors here, as they should be! Grab a beer and a pizza and catch this one on a dull night, I guarantee you will find it so bad that you'll laugh ALL NIGHT!
