Jim Davis grew up on a farm surrounded by an excess of twenty-five cats. In fact, cats are one of his favorite animals. This may have contributed to his writing Garfield! Maybe this is also why Jon, Garfield, and Odie often visit Jon's parents on the farm.

Garfield was born in the year of 1978, on the rainy night of June 19th. His place of birth was the back room of a small Italian resteraunt named Luigi's. His first thought was, of course, I'm hungry!
That thought has never changed. Eating has become one of Garfield's favorite hobbies.

Of course, Garfield is a cat of many talents, such as kicking Odie off the table...

And, sleeping.
