Axis Tribute

On the 26th of September, it's Axis' Birthday!  It's 1997 now, and the Birthday party happened to be on a Friday, 9 years old and still going strong.  Here on the right there's the flyer.  It was HUGE (about 20cm wide and 15cm high), and it couldn't be put in your pocket, so everyone in Paceville was holding this big IX in their hand where everyone could see it.  God knows how many times people stopped me to ask what it is.  Call that a publicity stunt or what?

Anyway, what about the party itself?
Well, since it was free....(actually tickets are only sent to Axis Card holders, so take a look at the Tricks and Treats page), AND there were 3 bars having 3 open bars at different times, it was PACKED.  I've never seen Axis so packed, not even in the middle of August (when it's packed with Italians).  Even the DJs were 'high' in their own 'Axisy' way.

And, best of all (well, for me at least!  3/4 of the whole 'attendance' was because of the Open Bars), Pepe Bradock (French DJ) gave a surprise appearence.  He was due to play on Saturday (the 27th), but since he was already in Malta on Friday, they put him on.

The way Axis is moving I have a feeling next years Birthday party will be THE party of the year. Why?  It's gonna be on a Saturday AND it's gonna be the 10th Birthday....Open Bar all night all bars anyone? hmmmmm.....Remember where you heard it first.

NOTE: If you have a picture of the OPENING of Axis (Ok ok, I'm asking a bit too much, but you never know!) on Monday the 26th of September 1988, either scan it and e-mail it, or send me the original, I'll scan it and send it back to you!  I'll be eternally greatful! :-)
