Riven Updates:
I hope this information helps you find what you want when you want it.
It has been confimed that the third Myst book: Myst: The Book of D'ni will be released October 13th along with From Myst to Riven: the Creations and Inspirations (the Making Of coffee table book) plus Myst: The Book of Ti'ana in paperback. I have heard that it would be better to play Riven before you read the last book or you may spoil the ending. (This will be a test of will-power) Also, Dark Horse Comics plans to release a comic book series based on Myst in either September or October.               The Cyan Spyder page was updated today. I would post the update here, but it's not my info to give, so use the link. Cyan's Cyan Cam was last updated August 1st. I believe the last major update to Riven.com was July 7. Also, Jim Stephenson's Unofficial Riven page was updated on July 4th with a small update on July 30.                 Sorry I missed this one yesterday. The Cyan Cam has new pictures. Also Guildmaster Telanis updated his page today.                 Not much to report. Cyan had a company BBQ yesterday. I hope you guys had fun. :-) Spyder has updated each day since the fifth in short, non-revealing sentences. Nothing extremely interesting.
There have been several adds for Riven. Wired, PC Gamer, and possibly other magazines have published one. One of them has been put online. Also, another picture of a scene in Riven has been discovered at http://www4.zdnet.com/macuser/mu_1097/firstlooks/riven/intro.html. If you haven't read the article on Riven from MSNBC, check it out.                 Spyder has been updated again. Sounds like a new report will be comming out very soon. Be looking for it. Also, a new Cyan Cam opened late today.
As soon as I get my September issue of Wired, I'll scan it and put it online. Tomorrow Gallery 1 will open. Don't know when I'll get a chance to work on 4.
I'm leaving next Saturday for a week so I apologize for any updates I miss. I'm going to try  to find someone to update while I'm gone.
On August 25 the fifth journal from the Riven journals will open. Sounds like it's something big....                 I don't know about Wired...I went to three news stands today and none of them had it. They all blamed it on the UPS strike...an interesting turn of events. I will work on getting it as soon as I can. Anyone out there willing to send me a scanned copy of theirs?                 I'm back and ready to update...  I'll bet all the Riven fans know what's happening today, so here's a direct link to the fifth journal. Good luck to all! There's been rumors going around about why the journal is rapped up. Your about to find out.

Further updates while I have been away are, Spider: August 15, Unnoficial Riven Page (Jim Stephenson): August 18, Cyan Cam: August 19, Riven.com: August 15 (MAJOR UPDATE!!). Also, Telanis added a nifty little game to his page. I took me a while, but I got it.

Sorry about the delays in the other galleries. I hope that they'll be up soon. I'm working on a new age. It's going to be something different from all the other ages. Unique to the end. I'll post it today or tomorrow.

Well, I'm sure a lot of you solved the journal. It took me a while (thanks again Adam) to finally get but when I did, I must say that I was a little disapointed by the ending. Is that all?

Also, if you go to the System Requirements page at www.riven.com You will find a Journal written in German. I translated it and stuck it here.

Ah! Lots to report, lots to report. First, Spyder STILL hasn't been updated. A lot of fans are getting rather upset:

" I have to admit, I am a little disappointed in the "newly returned"
Spyder. I got all excited when his new page came out, and he posted that first update. Even the dailys were update at least every other day. However, he hasn't said a thing at all since then. I was hoping that the Spyder would give us lots of exciting glimpses into Cyan, etc. Once the  game finally comes out, I don't think anyone would really care to follow  his posts anymore.

I guess I was just hoping he'd end up in a bang, rather than fizzle out  like this....Oh well, I still check his page hopefully."

This was written by Doug McBride of the Riven Lyst. I totally agree. I'm still checking everyday, and as soon as there is something new, it'll be right here.

Jim Stephenson's Unoficial Riven Page made some interesting posts, including that Riven will cost around 59$, and it is going to be released in mid October. I agree with him when he says that we should take any release information should be taken "with a grain of salt." The last update he made was today, so go check it out. Also, is there a new section to his page coming? Check it out on September first!

Nothing to the Riven page or Cyan new, but don't worry, they're not over due. I am expecting a new Cyan cam very soon. They have been keeping up with their weekly updates pretty well. I'm that they are very busy so we should expect possible delays.

I'm having a "No Limits" writing contest. You can read all about it from the contest page. Enter by September 15th to win!

Wow! It's been a long time since I updated. Sorry to everyone who has been reading the updates. A lot of information has been leaked slowly out of Cyan in the past month. For one thing, the Book of D'ni is now out in most places. Call your local bookstore to see if they have it. Also, for those of you who didn't already know it, Riven will be released October 1st. Spyder got some great shots of the limited edition Riven box. Click on the link to find out more on the LE box. Riven.com was updated a while ago with some new info and shots. There is a gamespot article on Riven too. Refer to the email message below before you go to read it.

Ok,
-Page 1 is fine... no problems there...

-Page 2 is a spoiler only if you haven't played Myst. It basically
summarizes the entire game... But there is 1 NEW screenshot from
Riven.**

-Page 3... Well, what can I say?... HOLY <insert favorite expletive
here>!!! This is like the Holy Grail of spoilers! They are summarizing
the beginnning of Riven! They are telling us the story! (5 more NEW
screen shots here)**

-Page 4... Ok, I give up. Why don't I just NOT buy Riven at all? I can
just read this article and cover the whole thing. (5 more shots, 4 NEW
ones)**

-Page 5... Uhmmm, guys? Did somebody at Cyan get pissed at y'all? Or did this all actually get released to the press? (5 more NEW screenshots)**

-Page 6... Well, you've got the point by now... 5 NEW screenshots** and a whole slew of spoilers...

-Page 7... Ok, this page is fine. Nothing wrong here... We know all this
stuff... (1 NEW screenshot)**

-Page 8... is.. and exact copy of page 6.. What the heck?

Ok, to summarize.. a few points:

- This is WORSE than the Norwegian screenshots and the comic book
timeline combined!
- There are 21 new screenshots in this thing... Somehow I'm not
believing that these were approved by Cyan... But, you never know...
- For the love of Yahvo, don't read this thing! (Unless, of course, you
like spoilers.. and I mean SPOILERS...)

**Note, I don't know if these images are good or bad. A Cyanite will let
us know...

Am I overreacting, like I did about the Quicktimes? I think not... I
have not read this article word for word... I just scanned over it and
picked out the choice phrases, which all stood out to me as spoilers....
It's not so much the article that worries me, but the images that
accompany it...

Cyanites?

-Ross Ivins
