Wyatt's Written Rant

November 19, 2006

Well, another six months, another update...

Simon is in Kindergarden! Can you believe it? It just seems like it was yesterday I was in surgery when Nikki was having the c-section. It also appears he's inherited ADHD from his biological father and Nikki. We're trying herbal, non-toxic remedies first. His teacher is as frustrated as we are. His disruptive behavior rattles her especially because, as she says, “he's so smart”.

Nikki is working as a food service cashier at an off-strip property. She's been there for over a year and loves it. Well, as much as she loves anything...

Lots of changes in the landscape of the strip. Shows closing, hotels disappearing, and the invasion of the high-rise condos. Really, who wants to pay $2 million for a strip view and lousy traffic? Don't get me wrong, I love it here. But if I had $2 million, I wouldn't be buying a condo NOW, at the top of prices. A Prius, maybe.

Yes, I'm doing well but waiting for that 40 hour day so I can get everything done on a daily basis.

My life is saddened daily by the loss of my mentor and friend, Don Lemmon. This man saved my life. For him to be taken from us so tragically leaving a 2 year old, a pregnant wife and a son he'd never know is an injustice of the highest order. All orders on the wyattsweightloss.com web site benefit Don's family.

My personal health continues to improve, albeit in fits and starts. I fell off the good health bandwagon for a few weeks and found myself back in urgent care thanks to a cellulitis attack. I think I'm a junk food addict, or at least a sugar addict. I just find myself craving chocolate, cream cheese danishes, peanut butter, and I can't help myself. When I'm on Don's program and focused, I feel great. When I get weak and falter, I sleep poorly, am tired all the time, have headaches and generally hate life. If I had the support behind me, it would be easier. But jealousy is an ugly thing...

Two more friends diagnosed with cancer, another with possible "pre-cancerous" symptoms. To me it's just more proof that our food supply is more contaminated than we know. The hidden dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup, Asprertame and "Splenda" continue to be ignored. We're a generation away from nutritional Armageddon... I talk and rant more about this at Healthy Living Radio Show podcast web site

I keep teaching Simon to eat what's right, but with no support from his biological parents, it's nearly impossible. Since they both think I'm nuts, it's no surprise.

True surprises:

American Dreams was good once you got past the first hour,
Click was god-awful until the last 45 minutes. An excellent Twilight Zone episode with anyone but Sandler
Borat-OK, who was really surprised. An ok movie anyother year, this easily is the comedy hit of 2006.
And the WWE turns out such boring drek that even with Friday night open, I pass on more shows than I watch. Cyber Sunday took place on my vacation. I passed. On a free pay per view. Reading the results I'm SO GLAD I did. Spent the three hours with Simon. More fun and less predictable. (More logical, too!)

I wish someone could recreate the magic of the Monday Night Wars. Back then, both WCW and WWF was must see tv. Now, if I watch 2 WWE shows a month I feel bored. TNA has potential, but is booked too haphazardly to have any - er - iMPACT!

Oh, the logo at the top of the page? That's the third version of Beth's original WZEP logo that she designed when I bought the station in 1989. Her original logo wasn't as clean, but very special. I still have two of the shirts she did by hand with the logo on them to this day...Here's a really crappy webcam pic of one of the shirts...

The hour is late, and I must fly. Have a happy day and all the best!
