dAnIeL is a young and promising Hongkong artise who emergered in the entertainment biz just a few years ago. Though so, his popularity has been on the rise consistently and there is no denial of his potential after his albums were heard. dAnIeL was a former student of a well-known singing instructor, Tai Si Chong, who also previously trained Leon Lai. Through his teacher, dAnIeL was able to get contracted to Polygram/ Phillips Record Company (HK) and in 1995, came up with an album -- "OpEn Up ThE sKy" together with some of the new singers a that time... he also did a commercial "Marlboro red Hot Hit " and at the end of 1995 , released his debut album.."fLy WiTh Me"...

1996 is a fufilling year for dAnIeL...he had already filmed "Hu-Du-Men" along with Anita Yuen and Josephine Siao and made another commercial...this time as the new "Vita boy" for the Vitasoy drink, which is very popular and made him more known to the public...dAnIeL also did a drama serial at this time, that is "NiGhT jOuRnEy"...which took about two months and another film "bEsT oF tHe bEsT" with Cheng Chi-Lam. It was followed a release of yet another fabulous album, "U r My OnLy LuRvE" in November.This is also the year where dAnIeL's official Fanclub was established... Danieland!!He also collected a number of awards, or rather i should say sweeping of awards... from TVB, CR2, Metro Broadcast, etc...

dAnIeL also made another film in the beginning of 1997, working with GiGi Leung..."LuRvE uNlImItEd" which turns out to be a very successful film and one more commercial for the Sing Sun Travelling... and did another for the Red cross Society to encourage blood donation....in June, dAnIeL released a new album known as "mInDgAme"..there is a change in his image and he appeared to be more tough looking and now dressed in trendy clothes ....this is to fit his "cool" image...then shortly after his album release... his first VCD was dished out with the same title "mInDgAmE".

After this came the long-awaited "XiN yOu Du ZhOnG"!! This was dAnIeL's debut mandarin album and he was pretty nervous about it. But of course, with his strong vocals and amazing heart-tugging crooning AND his good looks as a bonus, dAnIeL's album soon topped charts!( For a period of time, there was no stock of that in Singapore!) dAnIeL was well-received warmly in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and even other parts of the world! He was also given the title of "Little Heavenly King" by the HK media, which he humbly feels uncomfortable with. Rumours of dAnIeL and GiGi are also hotting up at this time leading to awkward times between the both of them. Even when he was in Singapore, the press did not spare him. dAnIeL's birthday was celebrated with most of his fans this year. From HK, Taiwan and then Singapore although it wasn't done all on the 9th of Sept. Then preparations for Daniel's new cantonese album began, alongside signing up for two movies. dAnIeL also began filming for one of the two--"tHe LuCkY gUy", a stephen's chow's comedy, starring opposite Shu Kei. dAnIeL released his new cantonese album "HeArTs ToUcH" at the end of the year, sporting a "cyber, slick look". The idea mainly came from dAnIeL and he was happy that the company gave him the freedom for suggestions.

Early 1998 sees dAnIeL's new movie up on screens. There are also two VCDs out and available - one is "XiN yOu Du ZhOnG VCD" which includes interviews with dAnIeL catering to mandarin speaking fans and another "HeArTs ToUcH VCD", mainly cantonese numbers. But things did not began quite as happy for dAnIeL for the start of the year. Rumours arises that dAnIeL's music teacher Tai Si-Chung has fell out with dAnIeL because of money. For a week or so, both couldn't be reached for comment, causing the misunderstanding to deepen. dAnIeL only came to know about it through the papers himself and when the media pressed him for statements as soon as dAnIeL reached HK, he felt so suppressed that he broke down. But things came to light after both of them clarified to the press, strengthening the relations between dAnIeL and Tai after this ordeal.

dAnIeL took on another commercial -- "USA Cotton" where dAnIeL picked out his female lead personally and she is a 15-yr-old, Fiona. dAnIeLalso had a new hairstyle specially for this commercial, shorting his hair and teases it. He was worried that it didn't look good on him, but it turned out pretty well. The commercial stirred up rumours of dAnIeL being the successor of Leon as Leon did a commercial for the same company last year. The launch of the commercial complemented the release of dAnIeL's new mandarin album "InTiMaTe"! And this album broke his previous mandarin album's records by hitting platinums around in Asia within a week of its release!! dAnIeL with a heart of gold does not forget about charity. He appealed to the audience to donate for the vegetated patients even when he was sick. Latest news is that dAnIeL is preparing for his new cantonese album, tentatively scheduled for release in June!
