Backstreet Fantasy

written by: Alissa

It was a brisk April morning and I had just woken up from a deep sleep. Then I remembered. Today was the Backstreet Boys concert held at the Vanderbilt. I quickly called one of my best friends, Jamie, who would be going to the concert with me that night.

"Hey Jamie, aren't you soooo excited for the concert tonight? Just think....we will finally be able to do the dance." "Hey Alissa, I know- I am so nervous. I can't wait to see my baby, AJ. What time should I come over to practice the dance?" "Um..in an hour ok? Talk to you later! Luv yah! Bye," I said as I hung up the phone.

My best friends Karen, Jamie, Nicole, Lexi and I were all going to the concert that night. We all are very good dancers and love to dance. We choreographed a dance reutine to We've Got It Goin' On. We have all taken dance class for the longest time. We have taken it since we were about 4 years old! It's a funky dance that we all can do, but have to practice a lot. We plan to do the dance at the BSB concert. Since there were going to be no seats there (since it was General Admission), we figured we would be able to clear some space and do the dance while the Backstreet Boys were singing. It was gonna be great and I was so excited. I showered and got dressed. Within a matter of 45 minutes my 4 best friends and I were going over the dance reutine. We were a triangle. I was standing in the front, Jamie and Karen were standing behind me, and Nicole and Lexi were behind them. We practiced the dance for hours, until we found that it was perfect.

"Wow I am so excited. I can't even believe we are going," I inquired. "Yea and just think, maybe the Backstreet Boys will actually notice our dance and think we're good, " Nicole said. "Yea, in our dreams, " I retorted. "Hey anything can happen." In no time we were all packed in the car headed to the Vanderbilt. It was about 2:30 and the concert was to start at four. We were blasting We've Got It Goin' On, As Long As You Love Me, and many more BSB songs on the way down. We sang every word to every song, going over the dance moves in our head. As soon as we got there we had to wait online until the doors opened. When they finally did, we all rushed to buy tee-shirts, keychains, books and any other BSB merechandise we could get our hands on.

Then we all filed into the room in which the BSB would be preforming. I was surprised because there were tons of girls in a room the size of a school cafeteria. I was worried we wouldn't be able to do the dance, but we just had to find a way. As soon as She Moves and Imajine were done preforming as the opening acts, the Backstreet Boys came on. As soon as they did, I heard a roar of screeching and screaming come out of all the fans mouths, including mine. I thought I would go deaf. They first preformed Quit Playin' Games, and then As Long As You Love Me. Finally We've Got It Goin' On came on. We all managed to fit into a space that was large enough for us to dance in. We kept pushing fans away so we would have enough room. We were about twenty feet away from the stage, in the center. Then the music came on.

We just started dancing as best as we could, and it turned out that we were better then we thought. The people next to us started to turn their attention to us, as well as the BSB. Right in the middle of the song, a guy shined the spotlight on the five of us for just a brief second. Brian then called out to us, very unexpectedly, "Will the 5 ladies dancing please come up." We were shocked. We moved our way up to the front as best as we could, trying to ignore the horrible glances that all the other girls gave us. We climbed over the bar, that led to the stage and walked right on. It was in the middle of the song, and we had no time to faint because of being so close to them. AJ just montioned us to start dancing. We took up the moves to the song again and were really good. We even got the funky part, that AJ sung, great. When the song was over everyone was screaming and clapping. Brian quickly grabbed me by the arm, after it went dark and said "Hey what are your names? You guys are amazing dancers. I can't talk right now obviously, but see that women over there?"

"Yes, " I said trembling..I WAS RIGHT THERE WITH BRIAN LITTRELL! "That's Donna Wright. Tell her who you are and tell her to give you backstage passes..tell her Brian sent you. She will recognize you anyway since you were just on stage." "Okay, " I said. When we all got off the side and went back to the audience, I told all of my friends the news. They were shocked. We were all crying and smiling at the same time. We had just preformed on stage with the Backstreet Boys! I mean how amazing is that! Even if it was just one song, it was incredible. Lexi nearly fainted when she saw Howie. Nicole had to bite her lip when she saw Brian. I just nearly fainted by being near all of them, especially (my) Nick! I went up to Donna Wright and told her about what Brian had said. She told me that she noticed us on stage dancing and really thought we had some talent. She also gave us free backstage passes!!

BACKSTAGE.... 30 minutes after the show... After the show was over, Donna Wright took us backstage, where we would be offered a chance of a lifetime. We got to meet the Backstreet Boys.

"Hey I'm Brian, sorry I couldn't talk to you after the song, we were kind of in the middle of a concert. " He smiled and gave each one of us a kiss and hug.

"Don't worry about it, of course we understand. I'm Alissa. This is Nicole, Lexi, Jamie and Karen. Its so amazing to meet you. You are so talented." Nicole was like peeing in her pants, she was about to tumble to the floor, but I caught her just in time.

"Well thank you, and I could say the same thing to you." Brian said.

"Thanks. Hey, where are the other guys?" Karen asked. Before Brian had the chance to answer, Howie, AJ and Kevin walked in.

"You 5 beautiful ladies are quite the dancers, " AJ said. "Its a pleasure to meet you. And your names would be?" he asked. Just then, as he was eyeing all 5 of us, he stopped at Jamie. She was flipping out.

"Yea, you guys really have a lot of talent," Howie and Kevin said.

"I'm Alissa, and these are my friends Karen, Jamie, Lexi and Nicole, " I was the only one who could even get words out of my mouth, since Nick wasn't here yet. A.J gave each of us a hug, and Jamie a kiss. She was trembling! Kevin and Howie gave each one of us a hug.

Everyone hit it off great. It was like a dream being there with the Backstreet Boys. The only thing was, it wasn't- it was real life and we were loving it! Anyway Kevin and Karen were hitting it off great as well as Lexi and Howie, Jamie and Aj and Nicole and Brian. It was like everything was going as planned and everything was working out great. They talked, laughed, flirted and hung out. It looked to me like AJ and Jamie and Brian and Nicole were getting it on the best. Howie and Lexi and Karen and Kevin didn't move into things quite as fast and just talked and hung out. Everyone went into their own little corners together and I kinda felt akward by myself. Then Nick came in. He was wearing a white shirt with jeans and he looked amazing. He scanned the room and saw everyone in their own little groups, except me. He stopped when his gaze came to me, and smiled. He came over.

He stared at me for a minute before saying, "Hi, I'm Nick."

"Yea, I am very aware of that. I'm Alissa," I said trembling.

"Hey, why are you shaking. What's wrong?"

"It's not everyday you meet someone you totally love and look up to," I said blushing.

Nick smiled and blushed. "So where are you from Alissa?"

"I'm from New York. We obviously came here tonight to see you guys and do our little dance thingy, nothing big. We just really wanted to see you guys, we think you are sooo talented and we are 5 of your biggest fans," I said rambling on and on and on.

"Well its a pleasure to meet you," he said giving me a kiss on the cheek. My knees felt like they were gonna collapse. I love him! "Hey why don't we get outta here and hit the town and see some stores? It's kinda boring here and there is gonna be nothing to do. Everyone else is talking and it doesn't look like they will be done anytime soon. Plus, I never really have the chance to walk around and see things since we are always busy with our music."

"You will get noticed," I said.

"I have a disguise; sunglasses and a baseball cap usually do the trick. So what do you say?"

"What do you think? Of course!"I replied.

Nick and I walked the streets of the town checking out new clothing stores and hang outs. It was really cool to hang out with Nick. Although I had met him for only a couple of hours, I felt like I had been with him forever. I realized when I was with him in Long Island, that he was much more than talented and gorgeous. He was funny, smart, cute and so fun to be around. He told me, while we stopped to get food in a little restaurant that he had devloped feelings towards me, and thought I was a fun person to be around, even when we only knew each other for a short while. I responded by saying that I had feelings for him ever since the day I saw him. We stayed out for like 4 hours. Then we headed back to the Vanderbilt. (We didn't get back there till around 1:00 am! The concert ended at around 7 and we didn't meet the BSB till 8:00) When we got back everyone was still talking and hanging out and getting to know each other better. They had all gone out and gotten dinner but came back to the Vanderbilt. Then something very unusual came out of Donna's mouth.

"Alissa, Karen, Nicole, Lexi and Jamie, you guys are some of the greatest female dancers around. You can dance just to about anything. The Backstreet Boys obviously both sing and dance onstage. However, we think it might be cool to add some female dancers in it. You know, like back up dancers? When we saw you guys preform tonight, we knew you were something good. Now, I think you guys would be perfect to fit the roles. Would you be interested?"

"Of course! We would love to!" We couldn't believe it. It was a dream that had finally come true. Just think, going on tour with the Backstreet Boys and getting paid for it. What a job!

"Hold up, first of all, if you guys are not 18 or over i'm afraid you need a guardian to accompany you on the tour- IF you should do it. I mean, you guys will still have to audition and you have to talk to the Backstreet Boy's choreograher- however, I am almost positive you guys will be great."

"Everyone in here is 18 or older. Alissa is 18, Jamie is 19, Karen is 21, Nicole is 20 and I am 19," said Lexi.

"Well that's taken care of. But before we can start doing anything, I must talk to your parents about it. Even if you are over 18 I think they should know what has been going on, even if the job is not definite yet. Plus, you guys still go to collage so it might be a problem for your parents to have you start a career like this, because you could not go to collage until after your career is done here, which might not be for years. So it's mainly up to your parents. I think all of you should get back home and rest. We will call you in a few days to tell you what the deal is. Then we can set up a date for you to audition and talk to the choreographer. Then, if you make it, you can start to choreograph and get ready to dance with the boys. "

"Thats great. We will be ready, waiting and we will be available for any day you decide to take us up on auditioning. Thanks so much." Nicole said quickly.

"This is so cool," I said.

"Okay, well Nick, Brian, Kevin, Aj and Howie- you all better get your butts into the van cause you have to wake up early tommorow. So, I'm sorry girls but we must go. Can I have your phone numbers before you leave?" Lexi wrote everyones phone number down while I went over to Nick.

"So what do you think of us dancing with you guys?"

"I would LOVE it. Girls around all the time. It's great. Plus we all knew before that Donna would offer you this job. After the show, before you guys came backstage, she talked to all of us. We all agreed on having you guys dance and tour with us (if you do well in the audition- which you obviously will). Everyone is happy about it."

"Hey! You knew about it and you didn't tell me. You jerk, " I said laughing. I smacked him on his arm, but before I could, he pulled me close and hugged me. I couldn't believe it. I was in heaven. Here I was, hugging Nick Carter- a BACKSTREET BOY! Even though we have only known each other for a short period of time- we had a special bond.

"That was nice," I said. He smiled and hugged me again We gave each other a kiss for goodbye. We wouldn't see each other for a while, and I would be surprised if he called very soon. He promised to call though.

Meanwhile, Brian was gazing into Nicole's eyes.

"You know your amazing and I am really happy that I have gotten to know you. You're one cool girl and I hope you will call me sometime before Donna calls you, ok? Bye babe!" Brian said as he hugged and kissed Nicole. Nicole was so happy, I thought I even saw her tearing.

Kevin and Karen and Lexi and Howie were hitting it off, they weren't getting intamite, as me and Nicole had done with Brian and Nick, but they were hanging out. I guess Howie and Kevin are not as straight-foward as Nick and Brian. AJ on the other hand was going full force with Jamie. After I said my goodbyes to everyone, I went to go get Jamie, only finding her and AJ making out on the couch.

"Jamie we gotta go, sorry to disturb you."

"Oh-ok no prob. Aj call me as soon as you have time ok?"

"Yea, I promise Jamie. " Aj kissed her goodbye and gave her a long hug. He then came over to me and kissed me on the cheek and hugged me.

"Hey, you making moves on Aliss- back off," Nick said, being way too overprotective.

"Calm Nick I was just saying goodbye," AJ said.

"Yea, I know sorry. Well once again babe I'll call you and talk to you later, I'll miss you. Bye" Nick said.

"Bye Nick, I'll miss you too." Everyone said goodbye to eachother. We left the building with starry eyes and were just a bit shaken up from what just happened. We couldn't believe that we had met the Backstreet Boys, and much less that we had gotten close with them. I mean Nick was so sweet. I couldn't believe it, I was about to tumble onto the floor, but Lexi caught me. We hopped in the car. I was driving. I turned the volume of the music on full force and we sung BSB songs with much more enthusiasm now, then we did on the way there.

Everything had gone smoothly with our parents and we all talked to them. We were all in different years of college (I was in my first). I was now attending Georgetown but would happily give up that opportunity for a bit, and go on tour with the BSB. Who wouldn't? Our parents understood that this could be the chance of a lifetime (my mom was a little shaky but at the end, she let me go, because it was really something I wanted to do.) We all agreed that after we were done with our dancing careers, whenever that would be, that we would probably go back to college in the future. Donna Wright already had called us and we had already auditioned and guess what!? We made it. We have had about 10 rehearsels. We have done some great reutines for Thats Way I Like it, Boys Will Be Boys, We've Got It Goin' On, and Get Down. We haven't got to see the boys at all (at the auditions) since they were still busy touring.
