I'll Be Dreaming

"I'll be dreaming of you tonight til tomorrow, I'll be holding you tight.
And there's no where in the world, I'd rather be, then here in my room dreaming about you and me"
Dreaming Of You, Selena)

I've done this before. I wrote how dedicated a fan can be. And this is the continuation. What happened after the last concert that Marissa went to?

"I've tried to hide it so that no one knows, but I guess it shows, when you look into my eyes"
(As Long As You Love Me, Backstreet Boys)

As Marissa roamed the floors of the mall with Jamie, her best friend, she scanned the stores for anything that was Backstreet Boys. Actually it didn't even have to be Backstreet Boys. Because her and Jamie, they would picture the guys as cartoon characters sometimes. And they would buy stuffed animals that they believed resembled the guys. For example, they thought Nick was like Eeyore from Winnie The Pooh; Brian was like Tigger. As those two were their favorites, they were reminded of them the most. Anything that was slightly something of the Boys' real lives became theirs. Anything they liked, a show, a color, a song, it became their favorite. At first it was on purpose. Marissa would buy a baby blue necklace because she was reminded of Brian. Jamie would buy something with green in it. But then it changed. They bought things because they wanted to. It was almost like the Boys really became their lives.

It wasn't some "I'm your biggest fan" thing anymore. It was more like "yeah I like them, so what". They didn't realize how obsessed, or dedicated as all of us real fans like to call it, they had become.

"I used to think that dreams were just for sentimental fools. And I'd never find someone, who'd give their love so true.
But I knew the very minute, couldn't live my life without you in it, and now I want the whole wide world to know"
(Anywhere For You, Backstreet Boys)

Have you ever-watched one of their videos and think what they did when they woke up that morning? Or were you ever at a concert and wonder what's going on backstage at that exact moment? Or did you ever just need somebody to listen so bad that you looked at their poster and at that moment knew that they understood. Maybe you haven't, but if you have, everything I am describing is hopefully a part of you too.

"And there is never a day that passes by, I don't think of you"
(The Perfect Fan, Backstreet Boys)

One day, Marissa and Jamie were in another mall, as were most of their Friday nights or weekends spent. A store caught their eye, more so Marissa's. It was a Hat store. And Marissa had been looking everywhere for the one hat that Brian was always seen in. His Kentucky WildCats hat. She sighed as she went in, hoping they had it, thinking they didn't. She looked at the back wall, and there it was. One hat left. And so she raced back there and grabbed it. It was size 7 and ¾. Just a little too big for Marissa, but hell it was the only one left, and she was getting it. It was still wearable. And hey maybe 7 and ¾ is Brian's hat size, she thought, or rather convinced herself with the help of Jamie.

As the time passed, the memorabilia collected, filling her room. Her posters completely covered her walls. Her dreams clouded her brain, and her fanfics filled her copybooks and disks. Everything in Marissa's room had something to do with the Backstreet Boys. She swore a year ago that she would still like them in a year. Her sister doubted her. Even Marissa herself wasn't exactly sure. At the time, she had been to two concerts and she did love them, but would they be around in another year? Yeah, they are around. And Marissa's love for them has only multiplied several times over. And as for her sister, well she's a fan now too, with her eye on AJ.

"I never thought that I would lose my mind, that I could control this.
Never thought that I'd be left behind, that I was stronger than you, baby"
(Don't Wanna Lose You Now, Backstreet Boys)

Another concert came, the "Millennium" concert. And Marissa, Jamie, Marissa's sister Ashley, and her cousin Nikki all went. The seats were very close to the stage. Marissa felt her dreams becoming true before her eyes. And she looked over at Jamie, and knew that she was feeling the same thing. She always knew. It wasn't just at this concert; it was over the two years that they had been best friends. But to have someone like that, that she could go through all of this was incredible.

To have the Backstreet Boys in their lives like that was something that they couldn't describe. And they knew that other people felt the same way. But they hoped that the Backstreet Boys knew just how much love there was out there for them. They hoped that the Boys knew that people were writing fanfics, and that people had their pictures all over their rooms, and that they bought things that didn't necessarily have anything to do with them. The love was there. The love was real.

"You are my fire, the one desire.
Believe when I say that I want it that way.
But we are two worlds apart,
I can't reach to your heart, when you say,
that I want it that way"
(I Want It That Way, Backstreet Boys)
