Meant To Be
James Hyde and his wife, Sue-Ling Garcia, had several false starts in their trip to wedded bliss, but finally made it 5 years ago. After several near misses, they were married in the most romantic month of the year, February 20, 1992.

James and Sue-Ling met in Spain in 1988. He introduced himself to her, but alas, they were both seeing other people. Despite that, James called her the next day before leaving Spain, and left his number. Sue-Ling returned the call, but the woman who answered the phone never gave James the message. Near miss #1!

But when Cupid strikes, there's no denying it! During the following year, Sue-Ling discovered that they had a mutual friend. She asked the friend for James' number, but when she called, he had moved. Drats. Near miss #2!

Thank goodness for Fate! Shortly after that call, Sue-Ling went to Italy. While waiting for a train in Milan, she turned around and James was walking towards her. At last! Soulmates connect.

They had dinner that night, and talked all night. According to James, "I completely fell in love with her the first night. She was somebody who really listened to me, who really cared. It was meant to be!

James and Sue-Ling continue to live a real life love story. With both of them having busy careers, they often have to make sacrifices for each other. They were married on the spur of the moment and have spent the last 5 years in wedded bliss. James expresses his committment to his marriage and Sue-Ling by saying "There are so many stages of marriage and love. When you're with somebody, you have to keep falling in love with the person." *sigh* Lucky Sue-Ling.
