Lauren Michael Holly was born on October 28, 1963 in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Raised in Geneva, New York by her parents who are both professors. Her Mother is professor of Art history and her father is a professor of English Litreture. She herself has a Arts degree in English Literature. Tradgedy struck early in her life when her brother Alexander was killed in a fire at age 14. Lauren thought she was too thin and attempted to eat her way into feminine form. In her own words though, that only lead to a big behind. Lauren went on to attend Sarah Lawrence College where her roommate would be another aspiring actress Robin Givens. Lauren had minor modeling jobs with area knitting magazines but her film debut in "Seven Minutes in Heaven" and "Band of the Hand" led to her role as Julie Chandler on "All My Children", for which she received a daytime Emmy Nomination. Lauren has appeared in many films which received little critical acclaim including "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane" and "Archie: To

Riverdale and Back" , a made for TV movie. But after four full seasons on CBS' Emmy-Winning Series "Picket Fences" as Deputy Maxine Stewart, Lauren has gained the dramatic respect as an actress that she deserves. Lauren's breakthrough performance came in 1993's "Dragon:The Bruce Lee Story", in which she played Linda Lee Cadwell, the wife of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. In and interview with Movieline magazine Lauren seemed ecstatic to have shed her tomboy image to take on sexier leading roles. Lauren passed up a costarring role in a long shot movie starring a little known television comedian later that year. She ended up kicking herself when she saw Courtney Cox in the role she'd turned down in the runaway hit "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" with Jim Carrey. Lauren learned her lesson and didn't pass up the role or Jim the next time she had the chance. She jumped on board as Jim's third straight hundred million dollar film "Dumb and Dumber" cracked up audiences everywhere. Jim and Lauren also began dating on the set and have since married....breaking certain hearts in southern Wisconsin. Seeing her star power growing Lauren has been working her tail off since "Dumb and Dumber". Later costarring in a USA made for TV movie with Tim Daley(NBC Wings) called "Dangerous Heart", her latest works include a supporting role in the remake of "Sabrina"(1995) in which she played, Elizabeth Tyson, a doctor and daughter of a wealthy Electronics mogule.Lauren starred opposite Kelsey Grammar in (1996) Down Periscope and (1995) Beautiful Girls in which she played Darian Smalls, a married woman who has an affair with Matt Dillon. Lauren's career will be quite literally taking off late this year when her latest film "Turbulence" opens nationwide on Jan.10 1997. Lauren stars as a flight attendant who must land aplane disabled by a storm while avoiding a convicted murderer( played by Ray Liotta) who has escaped during the disaster. described as "Speed" on a plane, Turbulence has the biggest moving sets ever built for any film. Lauren Holly's career is now in full gear and although the publicity surrounding her marriage to mega-star Jim Carrey has certainly done her no harm publicity-wise, there is no coattail riding here. Lauren Holly is a talented actress and has a promising film future ahead.
