The Black Cauldron is set to be released on August 4th.Many sites have had this information posted for quite some time.My reason for not posting it was that it the date was not officially announced and over the coarse of running this site I have seen more false rumors than can be believed and Second calls to Buena Vista Home Video left me under the Impression it will be released AFTER Lady and the Tramp (Sept 15).
About the Movie
The Black Cauldron is not one of Disney's most succesful films in fact it is on the other side of the Spectrum.It is the Disney's only full length animated movie rated PG. Until recently the only way to see the film was to either have a bootleg video or to have seen it when it was originally released in 1985.
Now it is available on Video but only in PAL format in the UK.
Unfortunatly Import copies are fairly expensive and most people in the USA have VCR's that won't run PAL tapes.It is rumored that a revamped and musically added version will come to theartres in 1998.But I really don't like the Idea of making a fantasy story like The Black Cauldron into a musical. (it's like having the orginal and Special Editions of Star Wars replaced with a musical version and singing Ewoks.)
