Finding the Right Paige

Do you want to learn more about the woman who gave me my beautiful voice? Look no further. Here is a page dedicated to Paige O'Hara. Ms. O'Hara did both my speaking and singing, and gave me one of the most beautiful voices ever to grace the screen. And so here we are: Paige's Page!

Let's see what Playbill On-Line has to say about Ms. O'Hara's career, shall we?

"As Disney's animated heroine, Belle, in the critically acclaimed, Oscar- winning animated film, Paige O'Hara added a Disney classic to a career that has spanned Broadway, opera and concert stages, as well as recording. Ms. O'Hara played Ellie May Chipley in the 1983 Broadway revival of Show Boat starring Donald O'Connor and most recently, she starred as Fantine in the award-winning Les Miserables on Broadway. She also performed the title role in the national touring company of The Mystery of Edwin Drood." with Clive Revill, Jean Stapleton, and the late George Rose, after appearing in the Broadway company, as well. Also, on national tour, sheo co-starred as Ado Annie in the classic Oklahoma!, directed by William Hammerstein.

"O'Hara makes her debut recording with "Loving You: Paige O'Hara sings Jerry Herman" now available on the Varese Sarabande label musicals as Hello, Dolly!, Mame, La Cage Aux Folles, Mack and Mabel, The Grand Tour, and Dear World.

"Currently, Ms. O'Hara is hard at work on her second solo album and is touring with her husband Michael Piontik, a Broadway veteran himself, in their own concert act From Belle to Broadway."

Paige O'Hara

Fantine

Who is Fantine? Why, she's none other than our Paige O'Hara!

Fantine is a character in Victor Hugo's novel, Les Miserables, brought to life on Broadway by such talented actresses as Ms. O'Hara herself. She is a young woman with an illegitimate child who is turned away from a factory, losing her job. Needing money to support her daughter, who is lodged at an inn in another town, sells first her locket and hair, then in desperation becomes a prostitute. She is nearly taken to prison by Inspector Javert for assaulting an abusive prospective customer, when Jean Valjean(the hero of the story, who was once imprisoned for nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his sister's children, and is now the mayor of that town under an assumed name) arrives, demanding that she be taken to a hospital instead. At the hospital, poor Fantine dies, but not before Jean Valjean promises to look after her child.

A recent picture of Paige O'Hara

Paige O'Hara appears again, in Beauty and the Beast:The Enchanted Christmas! Sad to say, that seems to be the best part of this film. We get to once again hear our favorite chanteuse sing, as the voice of our favorite herione, no less. In addition to the two songs(and one reprise) that appear in the movie, the soundtrack includes eight additional tracks! :D These songs are traditional Carols. We wish Paige the best of luck in whatever her next project may be!

Paige and Michael

Did you know that Paige O'Hara's husband, Michael Piontik, was in Beauty and the Beast: The Musical? He performed as Belle's nemesis and would-be suitor, Gaston.
