Halloween is so much better than friday the 13th. friday the 13th was revolutionary in the amount of gore, but is really an amateurish movie. Halloween, on the other hand, is cleverly directed and acted, and to this day is the most intense horror film i'v ever seen. All in all, Halloween runs circles around Friday the 13th all around.

I think almost everyone but me has put in their two cents worth on who will win in FREDDY Vs. JASON. I think it could go anyway. Point 1. Both are now in hell. I don't think it would change a thing for Jason but Freddy used dreams as a safe haven to "live . Now that he is offically "dead" it puts him in the same power level as Jason. So i think when they're resurrected they will both have the same strength. As for the film, i think it'll be an interesting movie. Normally for a movie like this they would th ow some kid in to direct who had only directed one or two movies or has never been near the horror movie business. I'm confident the the director who is truely directing will not let FREDDY Vs. JASON turn into a peice of garbage like so many typed movies ave been.

Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers are equal, in my opinion. There is no way to kill either of them. But I still think that Jason is a more frightening and evil figure of horror. Why? Well, even though Jason doesn't kill children, he has racked up over 100 murders. And his kills are random, with no reason behind them. Michael, for the most part, kills only his family, and those unfortunate souls who associate with them. If you were locked up somewhere (like a parking garage) with Michael, there is a chance, albeit small, that you would emerge unharmed. Michael may just pass you by in search of a family member to slaughter, whereas Jason would actually seek you out and cu you up, just because he saw you. I think that, though "Friday the 13th" came after "Halloween", Michael has grown more and more like Jason, even down to the physical build, as time and sequels went on. A fight between the two would last forever.

A Nightmare On Elm Street is indeed one of the better horror-movie master-pieces ever made, obviously far better than Friday The 13th. Which isn't to say that the Fridays aren't good, they're just nowhere near Nightmare's caliber (though many of the seque s are awful). As for a fight: It is impossible to say who will win. Many factors of the story, the setting, situation, the connection between the 2 characters, their current limitations (I say "current," because these seem to change with every movie...), if either of t em is now a "good - guy," etcetera, will influence the fight. By evaluation of their current statuses, however, I'd say it's a draw. Jason Voorhees, if caught in the dream - world (I am confident he can enter dreams. But if it were a merely physical fight, in the real world (Freddy can be drawn into the real world, as seen in the original A Nightmar On Elm Street as well as it's fifth sequel), then Freddy probably does not stand a chance against Jason's overwhelming physique and unstoppableness.

Jason goes around killing people. Michael goes arround TERRORIZING people! !!! Name a scene from F13 that is as scary as when Loomis comes up the stairs, and shoots the Shape six times, hurtleing him off of the second story balcony into the front yard. Loomis looks over the edge of the balcony to see.....an empty yard? What can be more scary than after shooting the most terrorizing masked murder of all time and looking to see.... THE SHAPE is gone! That is the best scene in all of movie history!

Obviously you're the one whose comments are useless, since you never try to make any valid points or show that my arguments are wrong (something that they're not). In fact, I clearly remember reading an interview in Fangoria, in which Donald Pleasance stated that what is at the bas of the Halloween films is basically a very stupid story. There you have it, right from the Halloween mas er himself. F13, on the other hand, has no illusions about what it is. Also, I'd like to comment about what you said about Freddy Krueger. if you could try to use whatever brain cells that The Curse Of Michael Myers hasn't wiped clean out of your skull, if you could try to forget about Halloween and look at Nightmare On Elm treet, you'd see that these films have truckloads more going for them (especially the original and the seventh one), than Halloween. And finally, how can you say anything about the upcoming Freddy Vs. Jason, when you haven't even read the script! Obviously, when you compare Jason and Michael, you can see that Michael would be iced fairly quickly. Once again, I have returned to further argue the point that Halloween is STILL better than the F13 series. This past weekend, I had the forsight to actually see if F13 could pull me back to it's side. So I rented F13 3-7. Once again, Halloween kicked the rap out of F13. I also found only one thing that Halloween and F13 have in common. F13 part 5 and Halloween 3 both miss one thing: the killers. F13 featured a stupid ambulance driver as Jason. Halloween 3 featured some sorcerer as the maniac. Still, F13 i so unrealistic that when ever I go to Video Outlet, I place all the F13 movies in the comedy section. It's just prepostiorous. Anyway, Jason Goes to Hell was so retarded that I put it in the children's section. Jason Goes to Hell is my favorite because J son perishes. Still, he returns in "Freddy VS Jason," and I hate Freddy so much that I am cheering for Jason. But, good ole Mike is making a cameo and hopefully he'll stomp both Jason and Freddy. Finally, all you F13 fans better stop posting things in thi guestbook. It's useless. I'm getting as much help from all Halloween fans that I can. F13 will meet it's demise.

You would have found arguments concerning most of your points in my posts below, but being the patient person I am, I'm going to restate them as needed. Please note that all arguments that have been used earlier are marked with an *. It should help prove hat you did not read my comments good enough. 1.* The Friday The 13th films do not only rely on gore. This is stupid. Just look at parts 5-7. They were just as popular as the rest, even though the killings were cut substantially. And if you don't mind, I'd like to point out that Halloween 2-6 were ju t as gory as any F13 film. 2. Jason teleporting. First of all, I'd like to ask you what your definition of "fantasy-related" is. You say that you don't like it because it's silly and unrealistic, which is one of your reasons why you didn't like Jason Goes To Hell as well. I think y u may have a selective memory. After all, if a guy being posessed by a thousands-year old demon isn't fantasy-related, what is? And Jason isn't a serial killer. He is something much darker and more evil. John Buechler, in his interview with Fangoria, equa es Jason to a tornado, or some other force of nature. This is original, while being posessed by demons and inflicted with curses is not. 3. As for bad acting, the only entries in F13 which had this was parts 5, 8, and to a much lesser degree, part 6. *A lot of the dialogue in Halloween I can't even bear to listen to. And as for returning characters? Well, Tommy Jarvis was in three of the f lms. Crazy Ralph and Alice (though for little time) return in part 2. And Kane Hodder, though his face is never seen, returns as the guy to play Jason in the last three entries, as well as the upcoming Jason Vs. Freddy. And oh, please show me any memorabl quotes in any of the Halloween films (except for Loomis' explanation of Myers in the original. That was cool). 4. * Of all the F13 films, only the original owes anything to Halloween, and after all, it has it's own plot, and it's own style, and it's own setting. It's like calling Speed a clone of Die Hard. After all, they are both part of the action genre, while F 3 and Halloween are both part of the stalk'n slash genre. 5. Steve Bubek IS kinda right. Without series like F13 and NOES (Nightmare On Elm Street), interest in stalk'n slash films would never have escalated the way it did, and thus Halloween would never have had so many sequels. 6. Jason does have a fan-club. Several, in fact. Somehow, I don't think you took any troubles to check. And about the cult. Myers' cult was not a cool thing. In fact, it sucked. The cult did not follow or even seek to aid Myers; he was their tool. I think most Halloween fans, even those who hate F13 movies, agree with me that the Thorn-cult was a stupid idea. 7. * Ah. Finally back at what started this whole debate in the first place. As I may have stated before, the whole Thorn-thing was a mess. It implies (as you can see in the director's cut of Halloween 6) that Michael can be stopped with just a few runes. t's not a reason. It's (At least so I hope, for the sake of the Halloween series) a cover story. Jason has plenty of reason to kill. And there are indications that he will keep on forever, even when his anger at being left alone to die and then coming bac only to see his mother die, fades. Jason kills to bring back his mother. You may think this is stupid, but it isn't. Jason was a retard. His mother meant everything to him. Bringing her back is the sole purpose of his existence. And since we all know tha killing people won't bring her back, he'll just have to go at it forever... I must say that I liked Brandon Thomas better than you. At least he was polite. He also had a knack for coming up with decent arguments. You, on the other hand, are impolite, unintelligent, and obviously someone who won't let people have their own tastes, even when their tastes and his own are so similar. If the makers of Halloween had developed it in an intelligent way while still sticking to the original concept, the series might have become as good, if not better than, F13. Instead, they all, including art 6, suck. Bring it on Myers!

More comments(sorry GOTOTOWN for taking up so much space!). After reading what others have said about Jason, I've found more arguments. Like one of you F13 fans said, "Jason does not know any shortcuts through New York, he just teleports." As I said befor , teleporting is the stupiest method of transportation for a serial killer. And this person also said," The makers of the film said they wanted to take a more fantasy approach to the film(if it weren't fantasy enough already)" I for one am not very fond o teleporting characters, or characters who survive getting blown to bits by the F.B.I., or characters who, after killed get up in a few minutes ready for more. Michael survived the fire at Haddonfield Memorial Hospital at the end of Halloween 2, but he d dn't get right back up and kill some more. After being severly burned, He had to wait in a coma for 10 years, which is more realistic than Jason's method. Another comment, One of you F13 fans said that "Halloween would be nowhere without F13." You've got t backwards. Halloween was released before F13 and gave Cunningham the idea for F13. So, F13 would be nowhere if it weren't for Halloween! Last comment. Someone said that "Jason has more of a reason to kill than Michael does." This is false!! Michael has een inflicted with the curse of Thorn and must offer the blood sacrifices of his family on the night of Samhain. Michael is driven. He can't retire until he kills his family. Jason, on the other hand can quit anytime he wants to. He isn't driven by anythi g. He just kills. Wheres the story in that? I think that the Thorn is a good sub story and will destroy Jason anyday. Thorn has a cult, also. Does Jason have a cult? No. He doesn't even have as much as a fan club. F13 sucks. Thanx!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you clueless F13 fans need to get a life! First off, the only reason Jason is popular is because all the movies rely on gore, which doesn't make you jump at all. Halloween, on the other hand, relies on suspense. It' scarier because you never know what'll happen next. Second, Jason's little teleport "cheat." I've stated this many times and I still believe that it is so attrocious that Jason knows every corner of manhatten when he hasn't even been there before! He als disappears in the woods, and when the victim turns around, Bam! He's in front of her! how is this possible? Unless he flipped over the person when she looked or just plain simple "cheating." Michael, though, has never cheated in his lifetime! You always see him looking for the victim, and not suddenly appear in front of him or her. Third, in "Jason Goes to Hell," he is blown up and still alive when his body is in a million pieces! And then we see his heart still beating! That is so stupid! Jason is more make-believe than Michael is. And last, F13's biggest flaw, the acting. No returning characters, and no memorible quotes. Overall, F13 sucks!! Thanx!

Again, let's look at your arguments: 1. Impossible that Jason should have lived through that explosion. Yeah? Well, I thought you said you liked things to happen without reason? Anyway, what about Myers himself and the things he's lived through? 2. Laughable that Jason seems to know every short-cut in New York. This is a laughable argument. Jason does not use short-cuts, he "teleports" the way other children of the night can be seen doing in films. The makers of part eight expressed in Fangoria that they were going to use a "more fantasy-related, larger-than lif approach", so this is entirely defensible. Also, if you had bothered to watch the movie properly, you'd see that he did not employ short-cuts for this trick. Take the oriental woman who is strangled in the disco, for instance. Jason was everywhere she tu ned. And anyway, if you've already written a story about a guy like Jason, why not go all the way and tinge the story with something truly supernatural? 3. That the dialogue in F13 7-8 was bad. So was the dialogue in Halloween. Or perhaps it was the actors. As I have stated before, they sound like they're talking in slow-motion, and their voices has an artificial note that makes it a pain in the ear. I do admit that the actors in part eight (not counting Kane Hodder) were awful, but the ones in part seven were pretty decent. 4. Part 5 was the "Season of the Witch" of the series. I'm not sure wether to contradict you or agree with you here. Part five was like season of the witch in that it tried to add something completely new, and failed. Part five should, however, be given praise for sticking with the original concept. Season of thw itch didn't do this, although the movies Halloween 1-2 had already generated a large following (and with good reason, I might add! See my final comments). 5. Preposterous to say that Adrienne King was better'n Jamie Lee Curtis. Actually, it isn't. And anyway, Jamie Lee Curtis came from a family of actors and had already played in one major picture: The Fog. That would lend her a hand in getting new projects. 6. F13ths are Halloween clones. This is only partly true. The original was, though it's a bit unfair to call it a clone, since it had a whole different plot of it's own and a different style. The rest should, however, be viewed as movies on their own. 7. Jason Goes To Hell. Many people seem to feel this way, although Jason Goes To Hell was the movie that returned the f13th series to it's former glory after the disappointment of part eight. It had a great story (though the body-changing element was a tad familiar after movies like The Hidden. At least Jason didn't develop a craving for cool cars and big guns!), and brought back the visual fx feasts of previous films after the heavily censored 6, 7, and 8. 8. Who was not scared when the Shape was chasing Laurie or when the Shape got up and walked away after being shot? I wasn't. All the time, we knew where the shape was, and that diminished his potential. Mrs. Voorhees and her son were kept off-screen, only hinted at by numerous Ch-ch-ch-cha-cha-cha-cha's until WHAM! the attack came. 9. F13 relies on gore, while Halloween relies on suspense. To think something like this is just plain silly. I think a more accurate evaluation goes like this: F13 relies on suspense and gore, while Halloween makes do with just suspense. That does make it a "politically correct" horror movie, but it didn't seem t impress the adiences as much... Finally, in all fairness, let me say that I am, in fact, a huge fan of the Halloween series. I think it has something to do with which film you see first: I had already seen seven of the nine Friday films when I first picked up Halloween. Halloween is the best in it's series; none of the sequels were able to match the original (although I think part 6 made a noticeable effort). But while the Halloweens degenerated, F13 evolved, and has reached the end-stage of it's evolution in the upcoming Freddy Vs. Jaso , a film which, if they are using the script i think they're using, will be absolutely grand.

Oh yea i forgot about Kevin Bacon. Well back to the debate. As for Jason living through an explosin like in F13 Part 7 is to put it plainly IMPOSSIBLE even by slasher movie standerds of living. In H2 not only did Michael survive but also Loomis. As for th reason theory. I find it more scary when there is no reason. Michael kills just to kill. Many people will support that. FANGORIA has stated that before when they bashed H6 (which was pretty horrible. I've read an early draft of Farrands script and Dimens on screwed up by not useing it). Laughable parts huh. Maybe some scenes in H6 or H6 t-cut had some but definatly not H1 or 2, just look who wrote them. Laughable parts in the F13 series include: In Part 8 when Jason seems to know every short cut in New Yo k even though he's never been there. Every line in F13 Part 7 & 8. That Jason had to kill a guy who was already dead, Bernie Lomax (A JOKE!). Back. All of F13 Part 5 was a joke. Sort of the H3 of the Halloween series. As of Addrienne King being Better th n Jamie Lee Curtis in showing terror is perposterous. F13 was more successful but that didn't help her in getting those roles except for F13 Part 2. Jamie Lee was in THE FOG, PROM NIGHT, TERROR TRAIN, and HALLOWEEN II. Hum.....seems like the casting direc or's knew who had talent. I thought that F13 would've been better off if they left it at one movie. Then it wouldn't be AS considered as much as it is, a HALLOWEEN clone. Jason may have been good for one sequel but then he was turned into a cash cow for P ramount. You see after Part 8 and the where the F13 sequels where SO AWFUl you wanted to kill the actors,writters, and directors they sold the franchise. New Line didn't do such a good job with JASON GOES TO HELL. That story was pretty off what the other ovies were. As for scares. WHo here wasn't scared to death when the Shape was chaseing Laurie across the street at the end of HALLOWEEN. And after the Shape was shot off the balcony then just got up and disappeared into the night? That is definatly more s ary than a dead boy popping out of the lake like four times. Oh plus you never stated anything about Cunningham. Carpenter without a doubt is a better film maker than Cunningham. Carpenter knows how to ring out chills with suspense. Cunningham had to rely on gore (which only worked because it had never been done like the effects in F13). The Halloween movies rely on suspense. The F13 movies on silly gore.

Let's look at your arguments, should we: 1. Halloween is more famous. This is absurd. Everybody knows who Jason is. Even if they don't know the name, they reckognize him because of his iconized mask. He's famous even to those that haven't seen the films. On the other hand, I'd never even heard of Michael Myers until I found his name mentioned in the F13 faq, and, upon finding the original Halloween in the filmstore a few weeks later and reading his name on the back, decided to see it. 2. F13th isn't scary. Personally, I find Mrs. Voorhees' lunatic face and whispering, or Jason (particularly the times he's been played by Kane Hodder or Richard Brooker) far more scary than Michael Myers. Plus, F13th was far darker than Halloween. Just look at Steve Bubek's en ry below. 3. F13 plots and actors are bad - sequels are horrible. I found the actors in F13th far better than those in Halloween. Ms. Curtis is no match for Adrienne King when it comes to sheer terror. And the dialogue is laughable in Halloween. The actors sound artificial and as if they're speaking in slow-mo. And at l ast the f13th killer (both of them) had a reason for killing. Michael just saw his sister sneak up into a bedroom (he was probably too young to know what they were doing), and suddenly decided that this would be a very good time to get a butcher-knife and kill his sister. The f13th killer is not immortal (this is Mrs. Voorhees I'm talking about, not Jason), she survives a lot but nothing more than any common psychopath would. Michael, on the other hand... and I wouldn't say the sequels are horrible, or uno iginal, at least not when compared to Halloween. Just look at Halloween 2, 4, 5, and 6. Season of the Witch was the only one that was original, and that one sucked in so many other ways I'm not even gonna touch it. 4. Noone in the f13th films has gone on to anything. Yeah? What about Kevin Bacon? What about Steve Williams, John D Lemay or Erin Gray? 5. Jason is brought back in some lameass way. Oh, yes, I forgot. Michael didn't come back at all, did he? He just jumped up and was ready for the next sequel. 6. Michael would beat Jason in a fight. This is my favorite part of the argument, simply because the above is BULL! Jason has lived through one HELL of a lot more than Michael (let's compare, shall we? Jason was caught in al explosion in part 7 which leveled a house. He was back moments later f r more. Michael was caught in an explosion which leveled a hospital room, and lay in coma for ten years), as well as being a better fighter. Michael was beat up by old man Loomis in part 5, and whimpy Tommy Doyle in part six. Jason kicked the shit (excuse the bad language) out of: Paul in part 2, Ali in part 3, Rob in part 4, Sherrif Garret in part 6, Nick in part 7, Julius in part 8, and, most importantly, Steven in part 9. This proof enough for you? Sorry for filling up so much space in the guestbook! This was more like a mini-rant!

I've seen that a little debate is going on within' this guestbook about F13 and Halloween. To me it's no descison, F13 easily. I laughed at some moments in Halloween, while the 1st F13 got me a few times. Now when you say "Jason has no reason to kill" es he does..his mother was decapitated. Whats Myers reason to kill? Trust me, what was explained in part 6 wasn't the reason, just somewhat covering for Myers, trying to give him a story. And another thing...if it weren't for F13 and ANOES, easily the wo most popular slasher series, there wouldn't have been Halloween 3-6. As Halloween sparked the slasher genre, F13 made it popular, and ANOES made it catch fire. So the way I see it....Halloween would be nothing, if it weren't for F13.

You have a right to say why you like F13 better than Halloween, but i also have the right to say why i don't think Friday the 13th is as memorable as Halloween. Fist off i disagree with you saying that F13 is more memorable than Halloween. If you ask arou d more people have seen Halloween rather than F13. Example: I think Kevin Williamson might have hinted at this when Casey got the wrong answer in SCREAM. SHe knew who Michael Myers was. #2. I've said this many times before......F13 just isn't scary!!! Not ing about that movie scared me one bit. Halloween on the other hand scared me shitless!!! The Halloween series rely on suspense whereas the F13 series rely on unessesary gore. Also F13 movies have some of the WORST acting and plots i have ever seen!! No o e from the F13 movies cast or crew have gone on to anything. The Halloween series had a great british actor Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lance Guest, and Paul Rudd. On the subject of sequel plots the F13 ones were horrible. They made hardly a move o put one inch of plot or originality in them. In the Halloween sequels they put in original plots. Oh and another reason i think Halloween is better remembered is because John Carpenter is simply a better filmaker than Cunningham could ever dream of bein . WHere is Cunningham at now?? He can't get a job without coming back to the lame F13 series. Oh and Michael would stare Jason (the walking zombie) down then cut him down, because Michael is the original boogeyman. He has never died, but Jason has died ma y times but darnit he seems to be brought back by some lame ass way. Don't get me wrong. I watch a F13 movie every once and i while but only 3 or 4.

There is no e-mail adress here, so I'm gonna have to vent my grievances in your guesbook instead... "Jason kills people just to be killing them. At least Michael has a reason." What kind of crap is this? Michael Myers, we are informed, is killing because he is inflicted with some kind of curse that makes him the embodiment of an evil god. Now that's original...NOT! Jason, on the other hand, is one seriously screwed-up mother. Fi st, he lives through the trauma of drowning because nobody wanted to look after him. Then, years later, he is ressurrected and resurfaces just in time to see his mother, who happens to be the most important person in his (past)life, getting her head cut o f for trying to avenge him! Jason Voorhees would pick Michael up, break him in two, and spit in his face. Don't get me wrong, I am a great fan of Mike Myers, and I do admit that the first Friday is a ripoff of Halloween. Still, Sean Cunningham had more gu s with his movie than carpenter ever had. And whereas Halloween only spawned a measly five sequels (and one of them not even related to the others), Jason was iconized and lived through eight more films. Possibly he will also brought back for Freddy Vs. J son, an installment I'm looking forward to. I still like your page, though, and encourage you to go on with the good work. Any Halloween-fanatics out there, young and old, whose pride has just been wounded, feel free to e-mail me.
