Setting Sail

On April 10, 1912, Titanic set sail for its maiden voyage. It was called "unsinkable," which is probably the main reason 2,002 people went on its maiden voyage. Safety. The richest man on the ship was J.J. Astor, and his wife, Madeline, was pregnant at the time. The largest moving object known to man, Titanic was in the headlines the day it set sail. The captain of the ship was Captain E.J. Smith ("The Millionare's Captain"). It left Southampton with many people waving goodbye to its passengers... and its passengers waving goodbye to the onlookers.... little did they know it was the last time they'd ever see each other.
