Different Types of Beer

  • Ale:

Ale is brewed at slightly warmer temperatures (18 to 20 degrees Celsius) than lagers. Traditionally, ales are maltier in flavour and distinctively “hoppy” in character.

  • Lager:

Lager is fermented for longer periods and at a lower temperature than ale. Lager is usually less “hoppy” in character.

  • Light:

Light beers are brewed in a similar fashion to ale and lager, but contain fewer calories and a lower alcohol content.

  • Dry:

Fermentation is carefully controlled to leave few fermentable sugars at the end of the process. Along with a finely-selected hop blend, this gives “dry” beer a fresh, smooth clean character with minimal aftertaste. The result is beer with a slightly higher alcohol content and the same caloric count as regular beer.

  • Ice:

Ice beer offers a distinctive, full flavoured, clean taste, with superior freshness. The beer is slow-brewed to a high alcohol concentration, and then is subjected to sub-freezing temperatures through an ice filtration stage. The result--perfect drinkability.

  • Porter:

Rich flavour, aroma, and colour, Porter is ale brewed with a combination of roasted malts. To complement this heavier flavour, more hops are added during brewing.

  • Stout:

Stout is similar to porter, but not usually as sweet tasting. Stout is flavoured and coloured by roasting barley, and features a rich, creamy head.

  • Malt Liquor:

As the name suggests, this product is brewed with a unique, malty and fruity taste. This brew has a high alcohol content.

  • Draught:

Draught beer is identical to bottled beer but is not pasteurized. It should always be kept in the fridge, and finished off as soon as possible.

  • Non Alcoholic Beer:

Non alcoholic beer is brewed at a lower temperature than lager, with minimum fermentation. This leads to the production of a low alcohol beer. Non alcoholic beer tastes similar to ale, but contains fewer calories and alcohol.
