Mark Linn-Baker is co-founder and a producing director of the New York Stage and Film Company.  Founded in the mid-1980's, New York Stage and Film have produced theatrical projects that have gone on to Broadway and around the world.

New York Stage's production of  Jay Presson Allen's "Tru" went on to enjoy a successful Broadway run and a national tour.  Robert Morse won a Tony for his performance in 1989.  More recently, New York Stage's production of "Side Man" won two Tonys in 1999.  "Side Man" won the Tony for Best New Play and Frank Wood won the Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for his performance. In 1999, New York Stage produced Lee Blessing's "Chesapeake" starring Linn-Baker at the Second Stage Theatre in New York.

Since 1985, New York Stage and Film and Vassar College have collaborated each summer to produce the Powerhouse Theater Program.  The program offers apprentice training for directors, actors, playwrights, stage managers, and designers.  The apprentices have the opportunity to perform and produced free Shakespeare and work alongside some of this country's leading theater practitioners.

The producers of the program are Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, and Leslie Urdang of New York Stage and Film and Beth Fargis-Lancaster of Vassar.
