• MediaMatics SoftMPEG Player: Allows full-screen playback of MPEG files as well as the VideoCD 2.0 format.
• System Information from Arkose Systems: Gives more information than your basic Device Manager listing.

Windows Power Tools

• Windows 95 Font Smoothing Update: All the benefits of MSPlus, minus the desktop themes!
• TweakUI 1.33: Modify various aspects of the Windows desktop/file system. Unzip, find and right-click on "tweakui.inf" and choose INSTALL.  Windows XP users will have to download the Windows XP Powertoys from Microsoft, which includes TweakUI 2.0.
• Registry Checker: Scans and fixes minor registry problems automatically. Read about it.
• WinImage: Format floppies as Microsoft DMF / >1.44mb
• Re-Brand: Change the Windows 95/98 registered owner/organization, and optionally your product ID.
• Partition Magic 7.0:  Rescue edition for all versions of Windows.  Extract to a blank floppy disk.
• Norton Disk Doctor:  DOS version, supports FAT32.

Internet and File Transfer Applications

• FastLynx DOS-based file transfer utility: Useful when Windows Direct Cable Connection is not working (will run in Win95 DOS box) or to transfer data to/from a PC without Windows 95. Does NOT support long file names! Zip file.
• Windows 16-bit TCP Manager: Another old app featuring Trumpet Winsock, allowing 16-bit Windows PCs to run Internet apps.
• Revival File Recovery: restore deleted files from Windows. Author's website has been discontinued, but you can stop the nags.

Microsoft Applications

• MS Fax/Windows Messaging: Stand alone installable copies of Windows 95 communications tools, designed to be used in a Windows 98 system. More information can be found here.
• Microsoft Pinball: "Space Cadet"; self-installing file, originally from Plus! for Windows 95
• Microsoft Backup: Windows 98/Millennium Compatible backup program.

Home Design and Gardening

• Home Design 3D: Designed for 16-bit Windows, but has full features to design blueprints, landscapes, and more. Self-extracting file; Double-click to set up.

Audio and Digital Media Creation

• Yamaha XG20 - "Lite" soft synthesizer driver for Windows 9x. Modified installation - unzip and run single SETUP file.
• Audtest: ZIP file featuring various test tones and sweeps. Useful for testing and troubleshooting PC audio systems, as well as other home audio equipment.
• CDFS2WAVE: This replacement CDFS.VXD dynamically converts CD audio [cda] tracks to WAVE files! Works well for conversion of CD audio to MP3 or when making custom audio cds - no need to make and store a wave-file on the hard drive. File is in "zip" format and includes readme.
• MP3trim: Trims silence and other non-essential data from the beginning and end of MP3s.
