The Cars

My first Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, a 1980 model, bought by me July 27, 1985.

After a repaint in May 1988

I drove this car from July 1985 until August 30, 1993 with lots of pleasure. It served me well for +/-350.000 km (218.000 miles) without unusual failures, just the normal maintenance.

But living near the sea took it's toll to the bodywork, and in July 1993 I bought another 1980 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser.

It was customized to meet the specifications for a van, in order to pay reduced road tax.

The backseat was removed to make place for the 100 ltr. LPG tanks, the side windows were blinded and the roof was lifted.

(pictures July '01)

I drove this car from August 1993 until July 2001 in everyday use and it carried me +/- 280.000 km (175.000 miles),

In all those years, it only failed once!! (A loosened nut on the starter motor cable).

(The other four times I left the interior lights on).

But again the sea climate and the tear and wear of everyday use takes it's toll. The points where the body is mounted on the chassis are gone and restoration is more expensive than another car.

August 22, 2001:

Today I drove the last  25 miles with the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. I drove it to my repair shop (who served me well for the last 16 years) who will use the parts to keep other client on the road.

1971 Cadillac Coupe de Ville

I bought one of these beasts in August 2000 to go on holidays (and for fun, off course). It's a relic from times when cars were build to last, a touring museum piece.

The car is in very good condition and every option is working well. It drives very smooth and light and the engine is very powerful.

I drive it for private use, mainly in the summer. To keep costs reasonable, I installed a LPG installation.

1972 Cadillac Coupe de Ville

I bought one of these in June 2001 to replace the 1980 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, my daily business car.

The car is in used, but reasonable condition, considering it's age. Before it came to Europe, it had a repaint, a new interior and a new vinyl top. (Some areas of California are very hot).

This one also got a LPG installation.
