Here's the gossip for now : The 2nd chapter to the Goddess Mini Series is coming out, but I'm not sure when.
And does anyone have any accurate idea when the movie's coming out? Can't wait to see Peorth over there make her appearance!

Ink2 (square) Kinokuniya is just opposite Kinokuniya Bugis Junction. You can't miss it.It's one of the best places to find anything Japanese and has to do with comics. It's currently out of Japanese stock, phonecards, postcards, etc. The only thing left are the chinese manga.
Kinokuniya Ink2 has stopped their ordering service. As far as I know, only the Liang Court branch offers ordering services now.

Note : Since their comics are Dark Horse published and therefore in small magazine sized volumes, you might not recognize where each episode relates to which Manga volume these (pricey) magazines belong to. However, they make for some really cool collectors' items 'cuz of the editorials at the back along with fan art and fan mail. It's fun to read! ^_^

Be warned : Model assemblers ask a lot for each model assembled, up to $400 or above. Be prepared to spend money like water if you can't assemble your own, or even if you could, it'd still burn your wallet black. At least the models are worth it. ^_^

Products Galore!

Ah! My Goddess Manga!

Apparently, there is a thriving market for Ah! My Goddess manga, and the faster a company can print recent copies, the better. There are, of course, the three languages available here : English, Chinese, and Japanese.

For Japanese comics, japanese book companies like Maruzen and Kinokuniya definitely stock them. These are generally "middle priced", slightly more expensive than chinese ones (exported from further away), but cheaper than English comics in the long run. (Dark horse editions are $4.00 + per thin magazine!)
Of course, these will be the first to publish the latest editions, but unless you collect them for aesthetic value or you can read Japanese, well.... I wouldn't recommend them. (Aesthetics is enough for most though.)
They go for roughly $10 to $11 each.

For English manga, they are printed by Dark Horse and are (currently) found only at Comics Mart. They contain a small fan art and fan mail/editorials segment at the back, which makes for interesting reading if you can spare the time reading the comics there, or if you can spare the money to buy all the copies. Approximately $4.00 a volume, although they may vary. Printing is also very slow.

For Chinese comics, two companies are currently fighting over dominance of the market. One is Youth Comics of Taiwan (offshoot branch of Tong Li), and another Comics World of Hong Kong. Both sell for about the same price, but Comics World prints their latest editions faster. However, their taste in covers suck. Youth comics, on the other hand, prints theirs more slowly, but have better taste in covers. Anyway, Tong Li dominates the Ah! My Goddess Film Book industry.
They go for $9 each.

Speaking of Film books, you can buy these pricey $12.00 full coloured OVA-based books from just about any large comics company. (Although Kinokuniya & Maruzen don't seem to stock them.) Comics Connections is your best bet. They each contain a two-sided full coloured pullout picture which look absolutely beautiful. (You can find them on my image gallery) They also have some of the scenes censored off from the OVA by over-reactive censors. (Grow up, you censors out there!)

Ah! My Goddess CDs, VCDs, etc.

Highly sought after in Singapore are the Ah! My Goddess OVA VCDs. Generally, CDs rule nowadays, and Ah! My Goddess is no exception. VCDs - Most of the shops stated above that sell CDs of most sorts should stock the OVA, dubbed in English (the 3 CDs in 1 cover set) or in Chinese. (individual packaging.) Currently, the OVA is the only AMG! video available, although the movie is coming. (Let's just hope it gets to Singapore.)

CDs - Again, CDs are everywhere. BGM CDs (Original Soundtrack #1 and Super Version Soundtrack #2), the Best Song Collection (Blue cover with 3 Goddesses in swimsuits), '97 CD singles collection (Pink cover), mini-story adventures, Tokuto-en CD, etc. etc. etc. Most of these contain original songs/soundtracks, so don't worry about repeats. Just worry about the cost.

LDs - Non-existent.

Tapes - Ditto. Same here.

Miscellaneous Goods 'n Collectibles!

There are a hundred and one different types of collectibles out there, almost literally. Here are some of them in more specific descriptions. Colour-Hologram Hangups - 2 of these for sale at Ink2, going for $50 each. You won't really want them unless you're really a die-hard fan and must have everything, or can't find alternative posters.

Phonecards - Pretty rare, so far only Ink2 Kinokuniya stocks them. Approx $30 each. Mostly, these have the designs you'd find on the manga covers.

Postcards - Who'd bear to use these!? Approx $15.00 a box, going fast at Ink2. Lots of other as yet unseen images, and manga cover images too.

Ani-Mayhem Cards - I've not collected these yet, so I won't know. I DO know they are sold at most large comics outlets such as Comics Connections. I might start soon....

Calenders - Dunno.... I've not seen them, although I've heard rumours.

Vinyl Kit Models - Now these are common and expensive! However, so far, only the Goddesses and their Angels are available. (Busts, full body, etc. etc. etc.) Pricey assembled or not, these can be found at lots of model shops for sale, and are generally limited in supply. (Model mold casts wear out after a while and aren't worth the replacements.) But if you can find and assemble them, you will be well rewarded. ^_^

Towels - Well..... I saw one for sale last time at Comics Pals, but it got sold. Ah well. ($50 bucks!)

Posters - What would an anime be without them? Right now, the best sources for posters are the Lucky Plaza Branch of Game Tokyo and Comics Pals. Fast running out, although they might be restocked if you asked the shop owners nicely...
