Pootie Tang!! What can I say about this movie? Well, it's funny. I didn't think it would be. But it was. I especially like Chris Rock as the corn. Don't know what I'm talking about? Then I suggest you watch this movie. ;) Man I gotta get me a phat belt like Pootie's...

Four Rooms
5 stars - How can I stop talking about something that's so HUGE?

I loved this movie. I'm sure however, that it is not for everyone. When I first started watching it, a few thoughts crossed my mind including: Why am I watching this? What kind of f-ed up movie is this? and Is this supposed to be FUNNY? But as I continued watching it, I guess it kind of grew on me. Tim Roth as Ted the Bellboy is the best part of the film. In the movie, Ted the Bellboy is in charge of taking care of the hotel for this one night (New Years Eve). He visits 4 rooms (hence the title of the movie) and encounters some... "interesting" characters along the way. The humor is very over the top, but something about it is very enjoyable to watch. Antonio Banderrrrres (rolling the r) was hilarious. I'm giving it 5/5 stars because I didn't NOT like anything about the movie. You got F-ed by an oven full of witches?? If you enjoy comedies ... I think you should take a chance on this movie. I'm glad I did. Don't misbehave!

PIN
2 stars - I've seen better... December 24, 2001

This movie was nothing like I expected. I don't know exactly what I was expecting.... but whatever it was ... it wasn't what I got. The cover of the movie is quite deceptive. On the back of the movie when they say that pin is a harmless deaf mute ... I still kind of thought he was alive or something, but he is just a dummy. I felt bad for the 2 children in the movie ... anyone living under the conditions in their parents house would probably end up going insane or atleast having some severe emotional or psychological issues. So throughout the movie it was hard for me to not feel sorry for Leon (I love David Hewlett - CUBE is soooo much better though). It isn't Leon's fault that his mom was an obsessive compulsive cleaning freak and his dad was a weird and strict, uncaring person. So what if that leads him to believe that his fathers medical dummy is his friend? Pin was much nicer than his parents. So I can't really blame him. A child who has to live under those conditions is bound to have some kind of way to cope with all that is going on. Pin was there to help him. Perhaps there could have been better ways to help Leon than to convince him to kill people (although I cannot place the blame on poor Pin... he is just an innocent by-stander ... especially in the scene where the nurse does bad things to him!! Naughty naughty!) but the idea of Pin being real was all in Leon's head... I really wish someone had gotten him help... especially his sister who seemed very oblivious to what was going on and when she finally did figure out that Leon was mental ... she just went on with her little life and didn't bother to get him some treatment. All in all, I've seen better movies, of course. But I've also seen much worse.

CUBE
5 stars - Endless Human Stupidity... December 7, 2001
Reviewer: Allison Fox from Fairfax Station, VA USA

Ok. I saw this movie a while back, and have always put off writing a review on it, even though it happens to be my favorite movie of all time. But tonight, I feel I should express the reasoning behind maddness. Not that there is a reason exactly. I would say, either people love this movie or they hate it. I admit, the acting quality is poor, but it doesn't take away from the movie much because the characters the actors portray come across as being very believable and real. I mean, how would YOU act if you woke up in a CUBE and didn't know how you got there, or why you were there?? Hmm??? Yeah thats what I thought. You'd be a little disoriented too. :) I liked this movie mainly because of its originality and the fact that the entire movie was filmed in one room (cube). That's just incredible. It reminds me a lot of dreams I have. I have it on DVD and I have probably seen it, oh, maybe 100 times in the past year. You'd think that since I know what happens in the end that it would be pointless to keep watching it, but I just love the movie so much. It's got intelligence, mystery, humor (Is that your 2-cents worth, Worth? For what it's worth...) Hehe. It's just an all around interesting and intriguing movie that will definitely have an impact on you. It's a movie you will not soon forget... ;)

Shadow of the Vampire
5 stars - If it's not in frame, it doesn't exist... December 6, 2001

Shadow of the Vampire is definitely one of my all time favorite movies. Willem Dafoe & John Malkovich are amazing actors in this ... and the script is witty and so funny! I found Willem Dafoe's character, 'Max Schreck' to be totally adorable. Yes, he kills people by drinking their blood, but there is something about him that almost makes you feel sorry for him. I mean, he did have to live out all those years, alone, probably bored... and hungry... and then the movie crew came along, and he was very friendly with them. Well, friendly with some, feasting on others. ;) I would like some makeup. Well you don't get any! (My favorite part of the movie). This movie just cracks me up, but it's definitely got a serious undertone, especially apparent in the ending. Which by the way, endings usually make or break the movie for me... in this case, the end made the movie, I thought. It was just so good. I'm sure not everyone will see the humor in it... but I think most people (especially those with a more sarcastic sense of humor) will appreciate this great film. The DVD is quite good as well. It's amazing ... the transformation Willem Dafoe goes through when they apply the makeup for Max. Very good acting... very good dialogue... very humorous... very easy to watch. Can you tell I love this movie?? If you like more Indie-themed movies (I personally feel they are usually more creative and better than Hollywood-mainstream movies, but that of course is just my opinion), or you like Mr.Burns from the Simpsons, like myself (So Max Schreck kind of reminds me of Mr.Burns (do I have weird taste in guys or what? haha) then you should definitely take a chance on this movie!!

Party Girl
5 stars - I'll have a falafel with hot sauce...

...a side order of babaganouj and a seltzer, please. Ok, I have seen "Party Girl" more times than any other movie (we're talking hundreds of times here). It is actually on my top five list of favorite movies. This movie is definitely not for everyone. I myself, found the movie EXTREMELY entertaining and funny. This was actually the very first independent film I ever saw and it got me into the whole Indie scene way back in the day. What's up buttercup? The rent and I'm not paying.. NA-TASH-A!The "imitate a cat puking" part makes me laugh to this day! Parker Posey is very very talented ... along with the other members of the cast. A trained monkey learned this system on PBS in a matter of hours! Re-coat it! The character Posey plays in the movie, Mary, wants to be a librarian and make something of herself. Granted, she is also a Party Girl, so this makes for some interesting scenarios in the movie. I would give this movie 10 stars if I could. Maybe I'm just partial to it because it was the first non-mainstream/non-Hollywood UNIQUE movie I ever saw and it broadened my horizins, but, who knows, maybe you will like it too. ;)I want to be a librarian!(I also highly reccommend the soundtrack to the movie).

Get Over It
4 stars - Very creative and well made movie... November 27, 2001

I would definitely recommend this movie. It was very unique, being as they intertwined the story of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" into the story. Martin Short was hilarious in it. Really good actors in the movie overall. Kirsten Dunst was enjoyable to watch as always. I would say most people can relate to the "breaking up with your first love" scenario ... and how you live and learn and life goes on and usually, things work out for the best in the end. This is no doubt a quality movie and I would definitely watch it many times over again. :)

A Crack In the Floor
1 star - If I could give it Zero Stars, I would...

you know... sometimes I wonder how films like this ever get made. I mean, I just could never understand how people can waste their time and money on a movie that SUCKS as much as this one did. Ok let me be fair here and say that I'm sure there are people out there who enjoyed this movie for some reason or another and have the same sense of humor as the writers of this movie (didn't) have. This movie was just so horrible I can't emphasis it enough. Even if I HAD to write a movie based on a similar storyline... I could have done a WAY better job and made the movie MUCH more interesting than it was. And I'm no director... so you don't have to take my word for it. But if you have some warped desire to see this movie because you don't trust my review... PLEASE do. And then come back on here and rate this movie like I did and say how much you hated it so that I can say... "I told you so!!!." Hehehe. :)

100 girls
4 stars - Almost a 5 star movie...

I just rented this movie, and was pleasantly surprised being as I had never heard of it before and was just taking a chance on a random movie as usual. It was a VERY easy and enjoyable movie to watch. I can see where people would draw comparisons between "100 Girls" and such movies as "American Pie" ... mainly because of the "typical teenage life experiences" (even though in this movie, they are in college). I won't say it was better than American Pie necessarily ... just different, and smarter. The dialogue was very witty and funny! Tons of good actors/actresses in the movie too. I'm just taking a guess here, but I am thinking maybe they didn't release it in the US because of all the racy nudity and content of the scenes ... in Europe, I believe they are a little more open to stuff like that. If it had been out in the states, even if they had cut some stuff out, it probably would have still been rated R and unfortunately I guess they assumed that the main people whom would benefit from or enjoy seeing this movie, are perhaps under 17. I don't know, just a guess. But I would definitely recommend seeing "100 Girls" ... it's touching, cleaver and humorous. What more could you ask for? :)

House of Yes

GREAT movie. This and 'Party Girl' (another Parker Posey film) are two of my favorite movies. Let's see... well, I guess I like this film because it's unique, and there is a lot of very very good dialuoge. Dialouge. Dialog. That was wise. ;) Yeah well, it would help if I could spell or if this box had a spell check. Hehe. Not a comb, a brush! A brush you brush your hair with! Anyway where was I... Oh yeah! House of yes. I have seen this movie a zillion times and never get sick of it. Pretend he's not my brother, I do. :) [you have to be able to see past the incest-theme throughout the movie] And although I do not condone the use of Tori Spelling in movies (I have no doubt her Daddy was the only reason she got this role), I have made an exception for this fine film. I guess now on her resume, she can put that she was the Doughnut Queen in House Of Yes. Haha. So if you enjoy black comedies, plays, Parker Posey, good DIALOGUE (see, I can spell after all! I had a short memory lapse there...it is 17 minutes (and exactly 37 seconds) after 4am right now you know...give me a break!). Or if you enjoy independent films of any sort, I would tell you to watch this movie. But I'm just some crazy person, so you don't have to listen to me... I'm just throwing this review out there incase anyone is interested. Bubbles! No bubbles! Stop Giving me the 3rd Degree!! Hehehehe.... "You be him... and I'll be her." - Jackie-O

But I'm a Cheerleader
5 stars - 1, 2, 3, 4... you're the one that I adore!
Reviewer: Allison Fox from Fairfax Station, VA USA

5, 6, 7, 8... watch this movie, cause it is GREAT! Hey, I should be a cheerleader! OK maybe not. :) I loved this movie... have it on DVD. It's very well made and entertaining. Natasha Lyonne is SO wonderful in this film... I've never seen her look so beautiful. Her and Clea DuVall make a very cute, convincing couple (the love scene is awesome). Basically, people think Natasha's character Megan is a lesbian because of various superficial reasons. Her parents send her to a camp, in hopes they can transform her into a heterosexual. Megan is in complete denial ... never thought of herself as being gay. But she soon realizes some feelings during her stay at the "Straight is Great!" camp (the camp is actually called "True Directions," RuPaul (as a guy) plays one of the camp employees who used to be gay, but is supposidly straight now (sure, we believe that). This movie is incredibly unique and colorful and I just love it. But... I'm a cheerleader!! ;)
