Meredith Salenger

My Interview With Meredith Salenger

This interview was comprised from a series of email questions that I had the pleasure of asking Meredith through a friend. (Thank you Anders!)

Q: Do you have any siblings?

A: Yes.  I have an older sister and a younger brother.

Q: In my opinion, Jason Robards is one of the best actors around. What was it like working with him in "Dream a Little Dream"?

A: I actually worked with Jason Robards on 2 films: "Dream a Little Dream" and "The Last Frontier". He is a charming man, very funny and kind.

Q: Who would you like to work with but have not yet had the chance?

A: There are so many people I would like to work with: most of them are the actors I said I admire (on the web page(Ander's page)) but I would love to work with:  Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Jodie Foster, Susan Sarandon, Patricia Arquette, Tom Hanks, Steven Speilberg, the list could go on and on...

Q: Do you ever do autograph sessions or charity events where fans have the opportunity to meet you and get your autograph?

A: I have done these things before. Usually a studio arranges them for a feature film that they are releasing or when a film goes to video.  I occassionally get invited to charity events that do that - but at the moment I am not scheduled for any.

Q: How many fan letters do you receive each week or month?

A: It depends.  But usually  10-20 a month when no movie I am in is in current release.  When a film has just come out that number can quadruple.

Q: Are you satisfied with your level of fame? Do you wish you hit is "big" in some movie and were as well known as say, Meg Ryan?

A: I would like to have the luxury of being able to work in the films I want (as Meg Ryan does) and not have to be concerned if I will get a part or not. But it is nice to not have people intrude upon your private moments in your everyday life.

Q: Does being recognized make you feel good? Or do you prefer to be just a face in the crowd?

A: That all depends on what I am doing that day.  If I am out at a party it is nice being recognized - all the special treatment, etc.  But If I am running errands (market, car wash, pet store) it is much nicer to just blend in.

Q: Do you ever reply to fan letters with more than an autographed picture (like a actual written response)? What does it take for a fan letter to get "noticed"?

A: I have written fans  nice letters before, but truthfully... I usually only write long letters to young girls who ask for advice or who write very sweet letters. I think I am a positive role model (no drugs, College graduate, nice person) and I like influencing young girls and inspiring them to follow their dreams while pursuing education.
