Western!
and a bit about London

This part is dedicated to my school, Western, and the city it is in.
Facts
Campus Info
2001 Canada Games

I think I will start out with some interesting facts about my school.

There's more then 26,000 students, in about 1250 faculties. I always get asked that question and now I can answer.

Our president is Mr. Paul Davenport, a really cool guy.

Some Facts About My School, and London.

Western is located in the city of London, Ontario which has a population of 390,000. It spans 155 hectares of land along the banks of the Thames River. Western was founded by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth and the Anglican Diocese of Huron in 1878 as "The Western University of London, Ontario". Wester is proud to be one of Canada's odest universities, and in my opinion the beautifulest. The name was formally changed to "The University of Western Ontario" in 1923 when the province recognized the University's growing importance.

Some Stuff About My School, and Where I Hang Out

Here is a map of Western. It's a beautiful campus. Lots of trees and open grass spaces. Look for Middlesex College (MC) . That's basically where I hang out most of the times. The staging buidling is where I hung out a lot this year with my friends playing QUAKE! It's right behind Middlesex College.
University College (UC) Hill is where all the good outdoorsy (is that a word??) stuff happens. It's the first thing you see when you come on campus from the gates, and it's very memorable.
UCC (University Community Centre) is where you get all that free stuff for signing up for credit cards, filling out surveys and stuff like that. There's a lot of neat stuff that goes on in that building. They've had the cultural display, where a lot of people go in and do their cultural dances and teach everyone about their culture. It's quite neat. It's also where you go to sign up for clubs!! And there's many of those around.

2001 Canada Games

In the summer of 2001, the Canada Summer Games will be held in London and surrounding areas. The games will be held, in London, St. Thomas, Woodstock and Grand Bend (those are the only places I know of at this time). Western will hold all the atheletes in the residence buildings. Western will be the Athlete Village. They are also taking down J.W. Little stadium and building a new one. The new stadium will hold the opening and closing ceremonies.

Bell Canada will be sponsering approximatly $500,000 into the Summer Games. They are going to be providing state of the art telecommunications equipment and services to make the games communication easier.
The city itself is investing approximatly $2 million.
