This coat-of-arms was contributed by Phil Funkhouser. A rendition of the (Burgdorfer) David Fankhauser Coat-Of-Arms was obtained by Phil's GrGrandparents' George Snapp Funkhouser and Edith Alma Funkhouser in the 1920s. Its origin can be traced back to the 1600s. The coat-of-arms is known as the Funkhouser Coat-Of-Arms by Phil's family. I have renamed it the Fankhauser-Funkhouser Coat-Of-Arms since it has been used by the Fankhausers and the Funkhousers.
The following is taken from Frieda Funkhouser Wilson's wonderfully compiled book, FUNKHOUSER - A SWISS-AMERICAN GENEALOGY (1364-1978) - page 26:
...The ram, leader of the flock or "standard bearer". Gold on blue denotes "joyful possession of wealth" while the combination of gold on silver "victory over all infidels,..."
Below is another adaptation of the original (Burgdorfer) David Fankhauser Coat-Of-Arms. This rendition of the original coat-of-arms with the Ram's head, drawn and painted by Joseph Snyder, heraldic artist, has been in the possession of Frieda Funkhouser Wilson since 1970.
