Wilson and the former Frieda E. Funkhouser were united in marriage on Oct. 2, 1939, in Alton. Wilson will also mark his 85th birthday on Oct. 2. Both are longtime members of College Avenue Presbyterian Church.
She was employed as a laboratory technician for Alton Children's Clinic. He was the owner of Wilson News Agency in Upper Alton, serving as a distributor for the Alton Telegraph and St. Louis Post Dispatch. He was also employed at The Alton Telegraph until retiring in 1981.
Their daughters are Nancy Smack of Clearwater, Fla. and Jean Alexander of Murphysboro. They have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
