RETURN TO THE BATCAVE: THE MISADVENTURES OF ADAM & BURT. 120 MIN.;
Adam West (I)_ and _Burt Ward_ are taken on a crazy adventure when the Batmobile is stolen from a car museum and they must track down the thief and return it. After solving a puzzle, they realize that the clues to finding the fiend who stole the Batmobile are hidden in their past. During the search, they flashback to their three seasons in tights, including their many sexual escapades. Ultimately they find the Batmobile, but get caught in the villain's lair. Tied to dynamite, will Adam and Burt get out in time? Tune in next time...same bat time...same bat channel!!


It was good to see the REAL Batman/Caped Crusader/Bruce Wayne/Adam West/Billy (William) West Anderson and Robin/Boy Wonder/Dick Grayson/Burt Ward/Burt Gervis together again. I liked seeing all the original actors from the great '60s Batman TV show back together again. We get to see Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Frank Gorshin (the Riddler) again, and they play themselves. This could have been excellent if they didn't make the dialogue and plot so, well...dumb. This was 2 films in one really, one the original cast in the present, and 2 actors playing the original cast in the '60s. I thought the recreation of the '60s TV show was good, except for some of the non-'60s expressions thrown in (did fathers call their kids "you guys" in the '60s?). It was good to see most of the originals in good health and all, in kind of a nostalgic mode, but they make fun of their image too much. And it completely downplays the real significance of the original TV show. I mean a lot of the '60s show was groundbreaking stuff. And the present day plot...I mean come on. It was a good idea for them to play themselves and kind of lapsing into their Batman roles; they just needed MUCH better scriptwriters to pull it off I think. Anyway it's worth watching for the true Batfan.
