Think Big
Oscar Lemay runs the O & L Ad Agency, a tiny, struggling firm across the street from the huge Grimes Agency where he had previously worked and had been fired from. Competition is fierce between the two firms for the BRAN CRUNCHIES cereal account, almost certain to go to the larger Grimes Agency. Only a few weeks remain before the presentation is to be shown to Bran Crunchies.
Oscar and his partner and love, Lil, work frantically on new ideas to present, but they can't match the resources of the Grimes Agency. Oscar is determined to beat out his old and hated employer. After much research, he discovers and gets the rights to a tiny, electronic device designed to transmit SUBLIMINAL messages -- which can be heard by humans without them being aware of it!
Sneaking into the presentation after almost being locked out by the Grimes Agency, Oscar demonstrates his concept of " TALKING FOOD " to the Board of Directors of Bran Crunchies; ie; transmitting subliminal
messages such as " Bran Crunchies are good for you ", from the devices which are attached to the cereal boxes, TO the shoppers walking by. The Directors agree to test this weird concept in one city.
Sales of Bran Crunchies SKY-ROCKET! This concept threatens the earnings of the top ad agencies who conspire against the O & L Agency. Oscar's life is threatened and they sabotage the plant making the devices, changing a message to, " They're crappy " instead of " They're crunchy "!
O & L gets accused of mind control and gets investigated by Congress, shipments of the devices are hijacked, a crooked politician uses them to win an election, all of which causes the Directors to STOP the test despite its impressive sales record. However, just when it looks like Oscar is finished, the Directors, impressed with his ingenuity and persistence, review his other advertising ideas. They choose one that's not so controversial and decide to give the Bran Crunchies account to O & L after all!
