Singer, Songwriter,Pianist,Writer,Producer,Actress Deborah Gibson has come a long way since her start in '87. You may remember her from such songs as 'Foolish Beat', 'Electric Youth', and 'Shake Your Love'. Well now Debbie goes by the name Deborah, and she has become an unbelievably diverse woman. Deborah's latest cd was entitled 'Think With Your Heart' in which she delved into an Adult Contmporary style which suits her very well.
Back in 1987 Debbie Gibson hit the air waves with her smash hit debut album entitled Out of the Blue. She spun off several
top ten hits including Shake Your Love, Only In My Dreams, & Staying Together. Deborah became the youngest female performer
to ever write, produce, and sing a number one song, Foolish Beat. Deborah went on a world wide tour promoting her debut album and made
fans all around the world.
In 1989 Deborah released the follow-up to her first album entitled Electric Youth. Fans of Deborah took immediate
pleasure in the album. The first track off the album,Lost In Your Eyes became a number one smash. According to Billboard, at the end of the year,
Lost In Your Eyes became the number 2 song of 1989. Electric Youth became a teenage anthem. Children were taught to speak up and say
what they believed in, letting the 'grown-ups' know that children have a mind of their own. Songs such as We Could Be Together, No More Rhyme, & Electric
Youth were being played on the air-ways through 1989.
After a little growing up, Deborah returned to us in 1990 with the release of her third album entitled
Anything is Possible. During a time when kids were taught that being bad was good, Deborah decided to reach out and try to make a difference in the lives
of children around the world. The album included a whopping 16 tracks including such songs as Anything is Possible, This So-Called Miricale, One Hand One Heart, & One Step
Ahead. In 1992 Deborah released a new cd entitled BODY MIND SOUL in which she tried her hand at a more R&B style of music. In the controversial video for the
first single Losin' Myself Deborah portrayed herself in a more sensual sounding motiff. The album's most captivating tracks include Losin' Myself, Do You Have It
In Your Heart?, Tear Down These Walls, & Goodbye.
On Think With Your Heart, her fifth album, Deborah went back to the piano to give us what she does best, soulfull ballads straight from the heart. The title track plus such songs as For Better or Worse, Didn't Have the Heart, & You Don't Have to See showcases Deborah's vocal talent to the fullest. This 1995 release is a definite must have for everyone who loves a good love song.
Now Deborah has a new cd out entitled simply enough Deborah. The cd seems to stay within
the Adult Contemporary realm, and showcases her strong vocal talent. Songs such as Naturally, Ode to a Would Be Lover, Where I Wanna Be & Moonchild emphasis Deborah's
natural born talent to write and sing. If you've ever had any doubt whether or not to pick up a Deborah Gibson album, I hope to have opened your mind and given you a reason to buy it. If your a fan of Adult Contemporary music, such as
Celine Dion, I guarentee you will enjoy Deborah.
