CHRISTMAS DAY

 a boy sits
in his room upon his
once firm bed.
pondering all of yesterdays
events. 
all is not good.

  the cut on his face
is a constant reminder
of hate.

  the bruise on his knee
is another early christmas 
present given to
him by a fellow classmate.

   he has no friends and
never has.
school is a place he dreads 
to go to
and today he will not. 
while other children recieve
gifts and joy on this christmas day,
he recieves ignorance
and hatred wrapped in big
red bow.

   how cruel can children
be?

  instead of opening gifts,
he creeps upstairs  past the dimly
lit christmas tree
to his parents abode.

   in the top drawer of his parents
dresser he finds his answer
...his escape route.

   as he looks in the mirror he
catches a tear running down is cheek. . .
over the scar upon his face,
and out of the corner of his eye,
he can see the iron cylinder as it
touches his
temple

it felt cold upon his sweat.

   after a short prayer to his mother 
and another for his father,
he pulls the trigger that sets him 
free.....
