The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (July 4th-6th)
With A WICKED weekend, MEN IN BLACK has lived up to its predecessor from last year, 'Independence Day'. And broke its 3-day highest grossing record but narrowly was beaten on the 5-day holiday record.
'Contact' should compete with the MEN next week.

The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (June 20th-22nd)
'Batman and Robin' opened to a large yet smaller than expected opening of $42.8 million due to the bad reviews which I can personally vouch for. This makes it the 3rd highest opening of the 4 Batmans in front of only the original 'Batman'.
'My Best Friend's Wedding' did very well in 2nd taking away the Bat's business. 'Con-Air' only slipped one notch as well did 'The Lost World'. Those two movies have earned $67.7 and $204 million respectably to date. 'Speed 2' really dropped due to its bad press down 4 spots to 5th and is now at $30.7 mill.
'Austin Powers' is still doing very well in 6th. 'Hercules' and 'Face/Off' should give Batman a run for the box office dollars next week.
.

10. Buddy....($0.85 million)....[7]
[Last weeks rank in parentheses].
The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (June 13th-15th)
'Speed 2' opened to a much lower than hoped for $16.2 million by earning the No. 1 spot less than 1 mill. This is only about 2 million more than the original
'Speed' earned in its opening weekend on its way to $120 million. Unfortunately, the original only cost about $30 mill to make compared to the $125 mill to make its sequel.
'Con-Air' had a good second weekend followed by 'The Lost World'in 3rd. The rest of the pack was far behind with 'Addicted to Love' in 4th. Look for the box office to perk up with BATMAN AND ROBIN next week.

10. Breakdown....($1.0 million)....[9]
[Last weeks rank in parentheses].
The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (June 6th-8th)
The new flick 'Con-Air' did extremely well at the box office earning $24.1 million which is almost exactly the same that 'The Rock' opened to one year ago.
'The Lost World' continues to drop rather sharply (about 50% from last week) but it is still on its way to about $250 million in total gross.'Addicted to Love' stuck in there at 3rd place with the other opener
'Buddy' in 4th with $3.5 mill. The only other notable is 'Austin Powers' which is still making a respectable amount of money continually dropping only a small percentage from last week. 'Speed 2' should give the
box office a run next week.
.
1. CON-AIR....($24.1 million)....[new]
2. The Lost World....($18.5 million)....[1]
3. Addicted to Love....($3.6 million)....[2]

The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (May 30th-June 1st)
'The Lost World' continues its rampage by earning $34.1 million which is more than the rest of the top tem combined. It has grossed about $140 million in 10 days.
'Addicted to Love' did well in second with $6.2 million with an overall gross of $20 mill to date. The three new movies this week did very mediocre with small grosses. 'Gone Fishin' edged out 'Trial and Error' to become third.
The other opener 'Til there was you' did very poorly in 10th place. The first challenge for 'The Lost World' will enter next weeks race- 'Con Air'.

The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (May 23-26th)
What is there to say?!?! 'Addicted to Love' still showed incredibly well going up against a powerhouse and the rest of the pack helped to add up to the most sucessful Memorial
Day weekend on record. Let's see how 'The Lost World holds up next week with only minor additions to the race.

The Top Ten Flicks at the Box Office (May 16-18th)
'The Fifth Element' retains its hold over the box office with a good sophomore week of $11.4 million. No change in the standings ocurred from 1st to 6th
place where 'Night Falls...' entered in behind Liar Liar at $2.9 million. 'Sprung' was the only other newcomer to break the top ten at 8th. 'The Lost World' will certainly dominate next
week when it is expected to gross over $60 mill on around 4000 screens (3,024 quoted by another source)in the US and Canada.

This weeks No. 1 was 'The Fifth Element' as expected but it earned a less than expected $17.0 million. In comparison, this weekend last year, 'Twister'
opened with $41 million on its way to over $250 mill. This shows that the beginning of the summer season started off rather slow but will soon pick up with the unveiling of
'The Lost World' in two weeks. 'Father's Day' opened well in second followed by 'Breakdown' and 'Austin Powers' which has now earned back it's 16 mill production cost and has grossed
$19 mill.

continues to do well getting over the $150 million mark making it Jim Carrey's largest grossing movie surpassing 'Dumb and Dumber'. Look
