Snapshot #18

In a tent in the wilds of Canada, two men are sleeping; each zipped into a down-filled sleeping bag.

Benny is sleeping soundly and happily, at ease and at home in the cold temperatures he loves so well.

Ray, however, is having a harder time staying asleep. He is not used to the brisk temperatures, or sleeping outdoors, and every cry of an animal or howl of the wind jars him into full wakefulness.

He tries to take comfort in the soft, even breathing of his companion. If anything were amiss, Benny would know it instantly and be awake.

Ray shifts restlessly and sighs again, then gives up. Unzipping his sleeping bag, he crawls out of it and over to Benny. He unzips Ben's sleeping bag, then gently shakes his lover awake.

"Hmmmmm?" Asks a half-asleep Benny.

"Scoot over," Ray whispers.

Ben smiles and complies, moving over to make room for another body in the one-man sleeping bag.

Ray slips inside and zips the bag closed, then snuggles up next to Benny, resting his head on Ben's chest.

A pair of warm, strong, loving arms wrap around him; and Ray falls into a deep, peaceful sleep.
