Past Trip Reports

1/22/2000 - I recieved an email today which talks about the characters popping up at Disneyland. Thanks to Doug for this information!

{{Get ready for a year of characters! Disneyland's 45th Anniversary theme is "45 Years of Magic--There's Magic in the Stars." In this case, the 'stars' they refer to are the Disney characters. And to prove it, they are sending MANY MANY more of them out than usual. I was a bit skeptical when I first heard this, but the two or three times I have been in the Park this year surprised me. There were characters everywhere--just inside the main entrance, hanging around the hub, riding the vehicles down Main Street. So keep your camera handy--this may be a great year for completing a set of character photos!}}

He also added, "still no Jessica Rabbit." We are still waiting for her too! Thanks again Doug!

1/9/2000 - TRIP REPORT: We made a trip to Disneyland yesterday. And realized a conspiracy against us... Space Place, our (at the time) favorite eatery... GONE, the Purple Tea Cup was awesome... GONE, the People Mover was one of our favorite rides... GONE, Mediator air hockey (air hockey with a guy in middle hitting puck, making it tougher) at Starcade... GONE, our favorite restaurant Casa Mexicana... GONE, the Orange Tea Cup... GONE, and now, Bow and Arrow pinball, just a few weeks after finding it... GONE!!!!! By the way, we really like Space Mountain... ut oh!!
Yesterday, for the frist time, we decided to watch Animazement. Although it's not really our type of show, lots of prancing around and singing, it was very good and I think many people could enjoy it very much.
Very very happy to finally see some characters in the park other than Pooh. For the first time in a couple years, we saw Captain Hook walking the park! Hook has always been my favorite character to see around the park. One of John's favorite character's, Launchpad McQuack, was also spotted. White Rabbit, the Tweedles, Mad Hatter and Goofy were all spotted as well. I hope Disneyland will continue to have good characters like this more often.
To recap, the Orange Tea Cup is Definately gone. It has been replaced with a Mint Green cup. The Bow and Arrow pinball game which allowed 4 person competition, which we have been reporting on and displaying pictures of is also history. We know everyone is as shocked to hear this news as us! But, don't lose any sleep over it... D2K will find something to replace the Bow and Arrow pinball game and will work on getting another cup really good. For now, we recommend riding in the Clover Cup, the new #1. And, for the time, replace Bow and Arrow with Skittle Wars. Skittle Wars? Yes Skittle Wars. First, buy some skittles, then find a nice seating area, then get two skittles (any color) and place between index finger and thumb. Then squeeze. Whichever skittle gets crushed is the loser and gets eaten. The skittle that doesn't get crushed is the winner and fights the next opponent. Check out the illustration below. Enjoy...
