After three years gap Rajnikanth has come up with his own screenplay & story in BABA .Expectation were high for this movie because it may be Rajnikanth's last movie.The movie take us on a spiritual journey.
Saints appear in house of childless couple and tell them that they will be blessed with a child soon and they should name him BABA. The child grows up to be Rajnikanth who is an atheist and loafer. He meets Monisha in the train station and later find out that she is his neighbour. Rajni & Monisha start of by quarrelling with each other and later fall in love. Rajni helps the poor to fight for their rights and in the process he develops an enemy with MP Ashish Vidyarthi
One day a madman in the village brings Rajni to see BABAJI a saint who lives in the Himalayas and BABAJI teaches Rajni a manthra which will grant him 7 wishes.When Rajni comes back he doubts that the mantra can work so he tries them out and they work but his friends convince him that whatever happened is only coincidence and the mantras don't really work. So Rajni test the mantra few times not realising that he has only 7 wishes and wasting it by trying to test them. Soon his uncle (M.N. Nambiar) comes to know about this and advises him to put the wishes to utilise more sensibly by doing good to others and Rajni does so. The news about his powers spread and come to the attention of corrupt Chief Minister & MP Ashish. They ask Rajni to make a wish in favour for them, whem Rajni refuses to oblige by their wishes, they hurt his mother (Sujata) . Rajni still not willing to help the evil soon appoints (by making use of his last wish) someone good and righteous as the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. When everything seems to be going well Rajni decides to go away to the Himalayas with the saints but turns back to the sound of the righteous Chief Minister being shot..............Will he come back or go on to the Himalayas forms the climax.
Rajinikanth who is into spritaulity these days has written the screenplay for the movie performs well in his role Monisha displays good emotions in her acting.The Music by ARR is very upbeat espescially the song DIPPU KUMARI and SAKTHI KOODHU is very energetic and had become hits. The movie is good entertainer for the whole family espcially for the kids. The film is a personal expression of the star's past, present & Future life, religiously, politically & ethically in the form of Collywood fairytale.
