Mike: A Jock Of All Trades

Looking at Mike Vitar's acting resume might make you wonder, "is there no sport this guy can't handle?" Heck, he skateboards, swims, plays baseball and soccer, knows karate and is quite the dirtbike rider. Which might have something to do with his landing movie roles like baseball player "Benny Rodriguez" in The Sandlot Kids and hockey player "Luis Mendoza" in The Mighty Ducks 2 and 3.

The fact is that if 18 year old Mike weren't so busy with his acting career, he'd probably be the star of several sports teams. "He wants to play baseball and football," Mike's older brother, Pablo, confirms. "Yeah, Mike is a pretty athletic guy."

Knowing all this, it was not a suprise to find out how quickly Mike picked up hockey.
After only eight weeks of hockey camp before filming The Migthy Ducks 2, plus a mere couple of months working on the movie, Mike was skating like he was born on the ice-or at least well enough to keep up with his castmates, who all had pleanty of puck-playing experience from the first Ducks.

Mike not only picked up hockey, but he also enjoyed the asphalt version. Between filming breaks, "We used to go to the parking lot of apartment buildings and play roller hockey," co-star Vincent LaRusso remembers.

Thoughing filming is obviously over, Mike's still hooked on hockey, even signing up with a local league. Mike's parents, Aurora and Pablo, totally support their son's newfound sport, taking him to practice and cheering for him at games.

And alas, according to Pablo, Mike would rather by skating than dating. "(We don't know if he is like that anymore). "Mike goes out on dates, but not a lot, because he is very busy with school and with projects," Pablo explains. "And he is very involved with hockey."
