How I Fell In Love
A very sad, but very true, story about how I became obsessed with the Backstreet Boys.
I was in the car with my best friend Mollye, and our friend Lauren, and we were all going to go camping with Kate and Kelly and Rachel and Kristen, who were in another car. Mollye's mom was driving and we were in Mollye's van. Lauren had brought a tape of songs she had recorded off the radio, and we were too far away to listen to our favorite radio station, Star 94, so we decided to listen to Lauren's mix tape. Well, after awhile, it got to this one song that goes "I touch you once, I touch you twice, I won't let go at any price, I need you now, like I needed you then, you always said we'd meet again someday…" that's an old '80's song if you didn't know. Anways, Lauren goes "Oops, I must have left the room and left the tape recorded on when I recorded this song." So, me and Mollye were bugging Lauren, and each time it went "I touch you once," we thwapped her on the head once. And then when it went "I touch you twice," we thwapped her on the head twice, and when it went "I won't let go at any price," we grabbed her arm and refused to let go. We were very bored in the car and annoying Lauren was the only fun thing to do. So, when the next song came on, we still wanted to annoying Lauren. The next song just happened to be "Quit Playing Games With My Heart". We didn't know the words to it very well, but we knew the chorus, so every time it said "Quit playin games with my heart" we would sing that really loud and obnoxiously. Eventually, it turned into an argument over which one of us could do it louder, and then we started arguing over who's heart the song was singing about, mine or Mollye's. So, for like the whole car ride the way there, me and Mollye going "it's my heart" "no, it's my heart," "no it's MY heart," etc. We still fight about that till this day.
Anyways, so one day me and Mollye watching TGIF on ABC while on the phone together when the backstreet boys just happened to be doing a special on it. We figured out that those were the people that sung the "My heart" song, a song which at the point we were ecstatic and couldn't stop arguing over. We were like, wow, it's the My Heart people! And then I saw nick, and I was like "Wow, he's so fine!" I regret ever saying those words. I really do. I admit that there was one day that I actually thought these things, but I regret it. I do. Forever I will.
So, one day we saw the Backstreet Boys cd while we were in Blockbusters, looking for a movie. And Mollye says, hmm, maybe I'll buy it. So she does. And we listened to it, and listen to it, and it was so awesome. And that's when we were just totally hooked.
Sooooooo... if you ever happen to be at a Backstreet Boys concert and when Quit Playin Games comes on you see two really weird girls screaming, it's my heart, no, it's my heart! It's my heart, damn it! Etc... say hi. Cause it's me.
