Synopsis
George A. Romero's notorious homegrown Pittsburgh shocker that introduced cannibalistic zombies to filmdom is an apocalyptic nightmare about corpses roaming the Earth that was originally banned in many countries. While it still remains an effectively spooky thriller, it no longer seems quite as gory in light of the graphic horror trend that emerged in the 70's. It is very notable, however, as a strong statement about civil rights in rural America. Followed by DAWN OF THE DEAD and DAY OF THE DEAD.
