KAHO NAA... PYAR HAI

Released and authored by DEI. Introducing Hrithik Roshan & Amisha Patel. 172 minutes. 5.1 Dolby Digital. Subtitles are on the dialogue AND songs in Spanish, Japanese, Arabic and French. And of course, in English. Also, the Hindi lyrics are printed on the glossy 20 page booklet that comes with the DVD.

The main menu graphics are top-notch and the amount of extras provided are plentiful: 10 very well made TV Promos, the theatrical trailer, interesting interviews with Hrithik, Amisha, director Rakesh, musical director Rajesh, and choreographer Khan, reaction from the fans, and best of all- the complete Filmfare Awards when Hrithik spoke about his father's attempted assassination, and then brought the house down with his electrifying performances of "Ek Pal" and "Kaho Naa Pyar Hai."

As stated in the booklet: Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai is a tender hearted love story about an upright young man who brings cheer, music and warmth into the life of a sweet natured girl. For the innocent twosome, life is almost like paradise till fate intervenes. Separated by circumstances beyond their control, the girl is in a state of shock. Her very existence is meaningless without that wondrous feeling called love. But all is not lost yet. The girl who cannot come to terms with losing her beloved travels across the seven seas in a bid to erase her dream-like memories. Far away from home, she encounters a young man who has the same face that she had given her heart and soul unconditionally. Can the twosome now overcome the myriad hurdles in their way? Can he succeed in erasing the traumatic memories which continue to assail her. Can they make an absolutely fresh beginning? Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai mirrors the feeling of this young debut pair in a style that spells unlimited entertainment.

The video quality for this DVD is spectacular; the best ever seen for an Indian DVD. Colors are finely detailed with no signs of artifacts. The stunning and flawless transfer is most likely due from using the original film negative as the source. Rating- 10 out of 10.

The 5.1 DD audio is dynamic, filling the soundfield with Rajesh Roshan's superb score. The (lfe) channel features a wicked bass and there's plenty gong on in the surround channels. Rating- 10 out of 10.

In closing, DEI has made a world-class DVD that ranks with any DVD made anywhere on the planet. Featuring a gorgeous, widescreen anamorphically-enhanced transfer, outstanding 5.1 DD audio, song subtitling, an attractive and informative booklet, and tons of extras. Overall rating- 10 out of 10.
