According to me Val's potential has always been underestimated for Oscar Nominations. He has given some very memorable performances that definitely had the potential to bag the Oscar Awards, for example take his role in TOP GUN, and also in DOORS where he played the role of legendary singer Jim Morrison(actually his face is so much similar to Jim Morrison that when I saw a music video of Jim Morrison in MTv I thought it was Val Kilmer in his teens).In fact I read somewhere( In some of his fan site) that the remaining members of the Doors even said that when they saw the movie they could'nt tell the difference between the real Jim and the one played by Val.Now that's some talent, I mean how many actors have been able to give such performances which is almost lifelike.In Tombstone also he played the part of Doc Holiday very well for that role Val slept very little in order to get the dark red ring around his eyes, but he has been underestimated everytime for the Oscars.Val has acting in his blood and that is the true definition of an actor.
