ABSENCE

Absence makes the heart go yonder
my soul surrenders to grief and pain
When will the world turn bright, I wonder
when will my spirits rise again

Demons are setting my mind on fire
raging, cursing my head and brain
Happiness is my one desire
but how do I keep from going insane

My mind is weak, my body's sore
in dreams I fade to a distant place
I just can't take this pain no more
though no expression afflicts my face

I see myself, a fading flower
remembering who I used to be
Wondering what will remain in power
when finally I can set me free

Wandering through an endless desert
searching for an oasis, but all in vain
Time goes by, I watch the sunset
environmental desert, but internal rain

Trapped inside a web of sorrow
the spider watches my every move
What will life be like tomorrow
will I still be dancing the Devil's groove

Living in a mist of darkness
struggling to see, but all is black
Desperately fleeing Satan's carress
feeling his fingers touch my back

Maintaining a spark always flaming bright
the strongest force there is, the hope
Providing me power to see the light
and keep climbing the eternal slope

Standing by the crossroads of faith
knowing luck will guide me right
Saving me from the Devil's wraith
finding the road to the end of the night
