I received my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance at California State University, Hayward (now known as Cal State East Bay). I studied piano with Ellen Wasserman, and organ with Ron McKean. I also received a Bachelor's Degree in English, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
While in the East Bay of California, I taught piano lessons and played the organ at a local church. It was difficult to leave, but I had an adventure waiting for me.
After my undergraduate work, I moved to Alaska in order to pursue an Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. Despite my academic focus on writing, I still took lessons with Dr. Timothy Smith, who is considered to be an expert on the performance of Franz Liszt's work. While in Alaska, I also worked with Alaska Dance Theatre, the semi-professional ballet company of the state. I was the Accompanist Coordinator there, helping to flesh out the Accompanist program, and starting a new Modern Dance Accompanist program, as well as playing for up to 20 hours per week of classes.
My recent move to Decatur, Georgia has proved to be quite a change from the North, especially when making the transition in November. I am now playing ballet classes for the Atlanta Ballet, in the Midtown and Buckhead locations. I am looking to take on a small studio of piano students out of my home during the week.
If you are interested in taking lessons, please email me. I look forward to hearing from you.
