Artest Collects 1st Win as a King
January 31

Kevin Martin and Ron Artest led the way to help the Sacramento Kings keep a good thing going. Martin tied a career high with 25 points off the bench and Artest added 19 in Arco Arena debut with his new team as the Kings won their 19th consecutive home game against the Denver Nuggets with a 98-91 triumph. Returning from a 1-5 road trip, Sacramento beat Denver for the second time in three meetings this season, both at home. The Kings have not lost to the Nuggets at Arco Arena since January 7, 1997.

Jalen Rose's jumper with 0.4 seconds left in overtime gave the Toronto Raptors a 124-123 victory over Ron Artest and the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.

Mike Bibby had 42 points and Artest had 24 in his second game with Sacramento, but Rose ended Toronto's four-game losing streak with his clutch shot. Mike James drove toward the basket and passed to Rose, who took a couple of dribbles before making his 19-foot jumper. Bibby missed a jumper at the buzzer.

Kings Pacers Swap Players

The Sacramento Kings today acquired the services of Ron Artest in a trade with the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Peja Stojakovic, it was announced this afternoon by Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie.

“Ron Artest is going to bring a dimension to this team that we haven’t had in a long time, maybe since I’ve been in Sacramento, in terms of his defensive abilities, his presence on the court, his versatility, his size and strength,” Petrie said. “Given where we are at this point of the season, we think he’ll come in here and really make an impact.”

Slow 4th Quarter Results a Loss
January 22

Sacramento trailed by just five points after three quarters Sunday, but scored only 15 in the fourth before falling to the Heat 119-99 in Miami. Peja Stojakovic hit three treys on his way to 19 points and Mike Bibby dropped 17 and dished eight assists. The Kings will head to Philly on Tuesday for a matchup with the Sixers.

Kings Ran Over Jazz
November 15

Mike Bibby and the new-look Sacramento Kings struggled over the first two weeks of the young season. Perhaps a meeting with the shorthanded Utah Jazz was all they needed. Bibby scored 25 points and Peja Stojakovic added 21 as the Kings jumped to an early lead before cruising to a 119-83 triumph over the Jazz.
