24.03.2001 Shame of Harvey niggles
HAS-BEEN singer Brian Harvey, right, has got a nasty habit of laying into acts streets ahead of him in the pop world.
About Mel C he says: "I think she's an idiot."
He has worse to say about Mel's former bandmate Geri Halliwell: "So you've got a few quid. F****** shut up."
The dim-wit dwarf even had a go at Richard Ashcroft, saying: "You're making me wanna cut my wrists, mate."
Geri Halliwell's new single, a cover of gay anthem It's Raining Men, hits radio stations today but you can hear a clip of the track RIGHT HERE ON WORLDPOPGeri Halliwell was out and about last night at trendy London restaurant, Momo to premiere the video for It's Raining Men, which is featured on the soundtrack to the forthcoming Bridget Jones's Diary movie, and to play several new album tracks to members of the press. Geri arrived with her best friend of the moment ... not Robbie Williams but her two year-old Shi-tzu, Harry. We can report that Geri's new album, entitled Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, is full of dance pop tunes and is very '80s influenced. First track It's Raining Men introduces an album all about and inspired by having fun, what Geri's always been best at! The 163;250,000 video for It's Raining Men, inspired by hit movies Fame and Flashdance, sticks with the '80s theme with Geri donning legwarmers and a skimpy bra/knicker combo for the aerobics style dance routine.Geri Halliwell has also been showing off her new ultra-thin figure in a photo shoot for Attitude magazine which goes on sale on Monday. In one of her most revealing interviews Geri tells the mag that she feels just like Bridget Jones and has loads of email love affairs. She also claims to have considered becoming a lesbian! 'I met these two girls at a party and they were both really beautiful,' she says. 'I was fascinated with the idea of whether it was easier to understand one another because they were both girls. I want to an all-girls school so obviously I questioned my sexuality many times if I thought, 'Oh God, she's so pretty.'' It's Raining Men is released on 30 April and the Bridget Jones's Diary soundtrack comes out on 16 April. Look out for more exclusive tracks from the soundtrack on worldpop tomorrow.Find out about Geri's forthcoming performance in Manchester here.Get the full story on Geri's recent burglary here.
Geri Halliwell showed she had put the trauma of having her flat trashed by burglars well and truly behind her by strutting her stuff at a showbiz bash in London's West End.
And as in previous times of trouble, Geri turned to her two-year-old companion, Harry the shih-tzu, to escort her to the event - to promote her new album.
Pop pundits were treated to a preview of her latest video for forthcoming single It's Raining Men as well as a selection of tracks from the album Scream If You Want To Go Faster.
Tipple
The glitzy party was held at the trendy Momo restaurant, but Harry apparently didn't indulge in the food on offer. Nor did he sip any champagne, sticking instead to his favourite tipple, water.
Burglars stole possessions worth £80,000 and wrecked furniture when they broke into Geri's flat. The star moved into London's Lanesborough Hotel while the damage was repaired.
Obscene
An obscene message was scrawled across a wall and the former Spice Girl's flat was also sprayed with milk and Ribena, it is understood.
Geri discovered the break-in at her first floor flat in the trendy Notting Hill district on her return from a weekend break in Paris with Robbie Williams.
'Very upset'
The burglars were reported to have taken various items including her new computer, a stereo and jewellery.
They also got away with a necklace once owned by Hollywood star Elizabeth Taylor, which the pop star formerly known as Ginger Spice had bought at an auction.
Last February Geri reportedly beefed up security at a £2.5m mansion she owns north of London because of fears about a stalker.
23.03.2001 Geri tells of terror
GERI HALLIWELL has spoken for the first about the terrifying moment she discovered an intruder had ransacked and vandalised her flat.
She told DJ Dr Fox on Capital FM: "It's frightening. Whoever it was trashed the place.
"They took a large carton of Ribena and sprayed it all over the walls. They either really didn't like Ribena or really didn't like me."
Geri was enjoying a weekend away with close pal Robbie Williams when her West London flat was wrecked.
The intruder took computer equipment and jewellery worth ?0,000, including a necklace once owned by Liz Taylor.

Forget arguments, scandal and controversy, the never before seen Spice Girls footage shown last night on ITV's Raw Spice documentary showed our girls in their true light.Raw Spice featured an hour of exclusive footage of Mel B, Mel C, Emma, Victoria and Geri in the days before they were the Spice Girls, living together in a house in Maidenhead. The girls were shown singing, dancing and socialising in the weeks leading up to their first music industry showcase back in 1994.While tabloids touted the show as 'the footage the Spice Girls didn't want you to see,' the documentary portrayed the girls just as they've always been. Emma was the baby of the band, innocent on the outside but with a wicked streak underneath and displaying the same love for pizza she has now. Mel B was loud, proud and madder than ever, especially in the clips of her headbanging and playing air guitar with Mel C. Victoria was almost as classy as she is now, admitting to being the only member of the band who refused to go to the toilet with the door open, and forever showing off her trademark dry sense of humour. Geri was the same as ever, evangelising about women's rights and world domination. In fact, only Mel C seemed different from the rock star she now aspires to be: she spent most of the show expressing her love for Take That! What came over most powerfully in the programme was the girls' single-minded determination for fame and their absolute belief they would make it. For Geri and Mel B in particular the question was only 'when' and never 'if', and both of them talked at length about their desire to be the first proper 'girl group' in the music biz. And when the girls' manager of the time accused them of being arrogant, it was clear the girls would ultimately end up managing themselves and being all the more successful for it. All the trademark Spice touches were there from the start, devised by the girls themselves, from Girl Power to Mel C's backflips. If you missed last night's show, make sure you check out the video of Raw Spice, released on Monday, which features 20 minutes of extra footage.CLICK HERE FOR EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE FROM WORLDPOP'S SPICE WEEK. Geri Halliwell showed she's recovered from the trauma of having her flat trashed by burglars when she took her pet dog to a glitzy party.
The former Spice Girl carried Harry, a two-year-old shih-tzu, into the Momo restaurant in west London for the bash to promote her new album.
A gathering of showbiz commentators were given a glimpse of the video to her forthcoming single It's Raining Men.
A number of tracks from her album Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, which is due out in mid-May, were also played.
A spokesman for the singer said Harry didn't have anything to eat but was treated to a bowl of water.
Halliwell stayed at a hotel after her flat was raided by burglars.
Intruders sprayed drinks around the west London property and fled with a diamond necklace which once belonged to Dame Liz Taylor.
23.03.2001Mel needs 'real love'
MEL C has plenty of dates on her world tour, but says she is still searching for "real love".
The Spice Girl rocked Moscow with a concert at the Kremlin, as we showed yesterday.
But during her time in the Russian capital, she also chose to speak of her miserable lovelife.
Despite being linked with assistant film director Dan Cadan in recent months, Mel revealed: "I need real love. It's just my time hasn't come yet. I am a fatalist.
"There are thousands of 27year-old girls - the same age as me - who don't even have boyfriends. And as I'm a singer who can't stay long in one place, it's even harder to concentrate on personal matters."
Nevertheless, she revealed she would like to have a child at some time in the future and saw Posh Spice and hubby David Beckham as good role models.
Asked when was the best time to become a mum, Mel said: "I cannot say definitely. It depends.
"Victoria and David are a very good example for me in this sense, but at the moment I am just too independent." But Mel was quieter when it came to the future of the Spice Girls.
"I am afraid I am not in the mood to discuss this now," she said when asked about rumours of a split.
"Everybody grows. It's nature's call, and I am not an exception.
"When I was Sporty Spice I felt like a kid, and now I feel an adult.
"I can say that the atmosphere in the group has changed. Mel and Victoria are raising kids now and we cannot afford eight-month tours."
Mel C proved a hit with the Russian public, but some of the critics were less than impressed at her appearance.
Dmitri Konnov, of Russian pop station Radio Maximum, said: "Mel C reminded me of a school teacher from the Moscow suburbs who neglects her appearance, and who doesn't have the energy, desire or money to take care of herself."
He continued: "I had the terrible desire to give her a bottle of four rouble (10 pence) shampoo or just tell her that her hair needs washing and combing from time to time."
Hmm, Melanie hasn't found a future boyfriend there, then
