EMMA BUNTON WORLDPOP INTERVIEW
¡@
RECORDING HER SOLO
ALBUM
Emma: I've
written lots of songs but I'm still writing! I'm hoping my album
will be out in February. There's lots of guitar stuff, a little
bit of R&B pop and tracks you can dance around to in your
bedroom but they're more pop than dance. I'll definitely do lots
of remixes on my singles cos I'm quite a garage girl myself and
there has to be a bit of jungle in there!
HOBNOBBING
WITH POP'S TOP PRODUCERS
Emma: I've
been working with Rhett Lawrence who did Mel C's Never Be The
Same Again and with Steve Mac, Wayne Hector and Rodney Jerkins. I
think because the Spice Girls are pop, it's a challenge for
Rodney. He does do that R&B thing but we always want a pop
element too.
FINISHING THE
THIRD SPICE ALBUMEmma: My favourite track on the album is Let Love
Lead The Way. In the video we play different elements: I play
Earth, Mel B plays Air, Victoria's Fire and Mel C's Water. We've
got a kind of R&B dance routine for Holler because it's very
upbeat. The ballad however is very sad and lovely.
PRESENTING
CD:UK
Emma: The
show's been fantastic. I've a great time, Cat's been brilliant
and I think we've become pals. I've really enjoyed it!
NOT GOING TO
IBIZA
Emma: I'm
supposed to be doing a movie about a group of girls going to
Ibiza? Well, I haven't heard about it! The truth is, I have been
sent quite a lot of scripts and I've been asked to be in a couple
of films but I have to make sure that it's right. I'm really
enjoying doing music at the moment and presenting. I think Mel B
will be great in her film. It's such a good idea for Melanie to
do something so different, you know to be a fisherman's wife!
It's just very funny and very clever.
GOING WITH THE
FLOW
Emma: The
Spice Girls are taking each day as it comes now. We've just
finished the album and we're so busy thinking about the single at
the moment, we haven't thought about another world tour. We did
used to plan a long way ahead two years ago but now we take every
day as it comes. With the babies we have to be a bit slower.
BABYSITTING
Emma: They're
both really good kids. I think it's because the mothers are so
natural. I hope I'm as good! They're easy to look after. You've
got the boy who's quite bold and good fun to play with and you've
got Phoenix who's just brilliant because she's so cute and you
can sit and talk to her all day. She mumbles to you about nothing
but it's funny!
ANSWERING YOUR
QUESTIONS
Lily in
Ontario asks: Music and fashion change so much, how do you keep
your image so fresh?
Emma: Actually I'm not a real follower of fashion. I tend to wear
what I feel comfortable in. I do like light colours. They always
brighten you up a bit, especially pink.
Nicola in Brighton asks: What colour toothbrush do you own? What
is your favourite room in your house?
Emma: My toothbrush is purple and my favourite room is my bedroom
of course because I love my bed!
Koshik in Stockholm asks: Which of Mel C's songs do you like
best?
Emma: Never Be The Same Again is definitely my favourite but I
also love Be The One on her album. She's got some great stuff on
the album. I love it all!
Hillary Leonard in California asks: Have you and Jade ever spoken
about getting married cause I think you make a lovely couple?!
Emma: Aww, thank you! But no, we're just boyfriend and
girlfriend. We haven't gone that far yet!
