Genesis today is one of the most successful rock groups in the history of music, with a longitivity that is second only to the Rolling Stones. This progressive rock band that was formed in 1965 at the Charterhouse Public School in England has had a long and difficult road to success and was the launching pad to the solo careers of two of it's most famous lead singers - Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins.
After it's first two albums went unnoticed, Genesis fought back with such albums as Foxtrot and Selling England By The Pound. With Gabriel's intensilty and the musical prowess of Banks, Rutherford, Collins and Hackett, Genesis was transformed from being a punk outfit to a mega-rock band. The fondation that was laid in the early 70's was so strong that it was able to withstand the departure of Gabriel from the group in 1975, and later Phil Collins in 1996. |
