Summary:

Michael Korda´s novel "Queenie" was loosely based upon the career of Merle Oberon, who was once married to his uncle, Sir Alexander Korda.

Producer Frank Von Zerneck chose unknown Mia Sara to play Indian-born Dawn Avalon, who comes to the attention of director-
producer David Konig (Kirk Douglas) when he is making a film in India and looking for an actress. From that develops both stardom and romance. The part of Konig was clearly based on SIr Alexander, and Douglas played in an appropriately grand manner. The critics were not much impresses with Queenie but the ratings were high.
