The Box
Part three

When Tori went to bed that night, she was almost certain that she would  dream a continuation of the dream she'd had in the past two nights and was delighted  to find that she did.

As they walked through the door, they found themselves in a dimly lit passageway. They peered around and saw that it had dirt walls with torches lighting the passageway up.

Torizo frowned at herself.  "This doesn't seem right.  It smells like  magic, but I see no signs of magic at all."

"How can you  smell magic?" Vima asked, quite surprised at Tori's keen  magic- sensing.

"I dunno.  I just... can." Tori replied uncertainly.

Ruby raised her eyebrows.  "Weird and weirder.  You are even crazier than before." she shook her head.

"Yeah, what's going on with you, Tori?  I'm getting worried."  TC did look  a little worried about Torizo.

"Ummm... I'm finally getting control of my powers?"  Tori seemed very  uncertain about this conclusion.

Mevima suddenly began jumping around the room in a strange manner with a terrified look on her face. "Help!"

"Get out here!  Whatcha mean 'help'?" Ruby yelled at Vima, who was still jumping around in the room.

"And stop that jumping!"

"I can't!  Help me!  Stop me!"  Vima yelled back, completely horrified by  now.

TC pounced on Mevima and stopped her in mid-bounce. He got off and dragged her into the hall with the rest of them.

"What was that about not being  able to stop again?"

Mevima looked up at him and replied in a whiney voice.  "Well, I  couldn't..."

"Yeah right.  Well, lets get going."  Torizo turned and walked down the hallway, the rest of them following.

Vima tried to protest once again, saying, "Really!  I didn't plan on  starting, and I really wanted to stop!  Why won't you believe me?"

"Because it's impossible," Torizo said dryly, and grabbed Mevima by the  wrist, dragging her along behind.

TC and Ruby followed, each grabbing a torch to help light the way.  Ruby  had seemed more quiet then usual, but now spoke up.

"Tori, I think that what  might be going on is that Macavity is enhancing your sences so that.. well.. like this  might be some sort of test or something to see... to see... if we ever get out."

Torizo stopped and turned to her.  "Well I sure hope that we get out.  I  don't want to die before my first week here passes.  I don't want to die that soon!"

Tori seemed like she was about to cry.  Then she straightened up.

"Well, we should at least  try to get out. Quick!  Duck behind that rock!"

They all hurried behind the rock which Tori had indicated and watched the hallway, where there were shadows and they heard voices.  They were faint voices, but they were sure voices.

"... anyone else... probably dead... bump into Macavity..."

When the other group came around the corner, they saw that it was a group  of two.  TC was the only one who actually got up and went over to them, though. But when they saw him, they drew back in fear.  One of them spoke up; "Who-who are  you? If you're one of Mac-Macavity's henchCats, then just.. just go away.   Pl-please?"

TC heaved a sigh and replied to them.  "No, I'm not one of Macavity's henchCats.  I'm  TC, and I got put in this.. this.. maze by Macavity, or the 'Hidden Paw'."  TC sneered at  this last part and then continued on.  "I'm here with three others, but they're not with me at  the moment. What's your names?"

They looked at each other and the one who had spoken before took a step forward.  "I'm Alayla and this is my tom, Kor.  We've been stuck in here a couple o' days. Will.. will you help us get out of here?"

TC  smiled at them.  "We can help you out."  He then went over to Tori,  Ruby, and Vima.  "You can come out now, they're OK."

The three came out of their hiding place and went over to Alayla and Kor, introducing themselves.

The two groups decided to work together to find a way out and they  continued going the direction that TC, Tori, Vima, and Ruby had been going.  They were told that the others had had a similar experience when they had gotten captured by Macavity.

They walked down the passage a little bit before coming to a fork in the  um.. hall?

Kor thought for a few seconds, then said out loud, pointing to the left  fork, "I believe that we came from that one."

The six kits hurried down the right fork, but came to a dead end.  Kor  looked confused.  "That can't be right.  The one we came from didn't have anywhere  else to go, but it had a big room at the end of it and there were no other forks."  Vima felt along the walls muttering something about secret passageways and soon she seemed to  have found what she had been looking for.

"There's a secret passageway, that's why.   He had to make it at least a little bit complicated.  Now to get it open..."  Everyone took turns trying to open the door but no one succeded.

Finally, after everyone had been resting  a bit to think, Ruby grinned widely and pulled a toothpick out of thin air (or so it seemed)  and used it to open the door, which everyone was amazed at.

As they steppted into the room, they were shocked to see...

Tori woke up to the sound of her alarm clock ringinmg five minutes early  and threw it so hard at the floor that it smashed into three different peices.

She rolled over and tried to go back to sleep but with no success.

Finally she gave up and got  out of bed.

Guess you'll want to know what's in that room.

I want to know!!!!

No way, take me back
